Victim Location49203 Type of a scamOnline Purchase
Do not purchase a vehicle online from Vroom.com! This process is fraudulent. I got swept up in the legitimate look of the website and the sales representative called me immediately so I didn't question things until I was very deep in sending mine and my husband's personal data (all of our sensitive ID information) in the purchase of a car. We texted, emailed, and talked over the phone for nearly 8 hours in finalizing the upload of all of the necessary documents and I even paid 249.00 on my credit card to secure the hold of the vehicle which we were supposedly purchasing. To then receive an email the following day stating that if I didn't upload more documents my car would be put back up for open purchase on their website. I tried to call the main number (business hours on this day were posted 11:00 am - 5:00 pm) and no one answered my numerous calls, and called my sales representative's number, by his extension (left a message of my concern and immediately got a LifeLock alert that someone was trying to apply for a loan at two banks) but I got no answer verifying if this was even legitimate. I immediately put a freeze on all of my accounts, and credit reports. Called my credit companies and put a stop to the card I had used as well to try and lessen my risk of exposure. The representative called me the next day (2-days after he should have confirmed the uploaded information was intact and that I was now moving forward to the contract stage of purchase) asking me why I canceled. I told him I had decided against the purchase and his tone abruptly changed and he wanted to rush off the call. I asked what would be done with my sensitive personal data (this phone call is supposed to be recorded) and he said it gets destroyed by Vroom. I said I wanted him to send me an email confirmation of that process along with verification of cancellation of the car purchase deal. He said he would and I haven't received this email as of my posting this scam report to the BBB.

I called at around 9 to vroom auto sales. After having my credit ran at 9:45 and sending in my information; I was told the vehicle was placed on hold at 10:30 with a 500 dollar deposit. On a recorded line they told me it was first come first serve I was already going threw with the sale. I was then told I would have to have my credit ran again for the same vehiclewhen it back in stock.
