They had me contact their hiring manager via Signal Private Messenger. This is where they conducted the IM "interview". The grammar of the hiring manager was awful. They claimed that "the world is always advancing so it is important to stay on top of things as change is inevitable" is the reason for the IM interview, rather than via telephone of video. They remote job was for a data entry clerk with a pay rate of $40/hour....too good to be true. Once the interview was concluded, she comes back an hour later with a job offer and then proceeds to tell me that the accounting department will be mailing me a "start-up check" that will be delivered tomorrow the next day. This check is includes funds to cover my "working materials, software installation, and sign-on bonus." She proceeds to tell me that all of my onboarding paperwork will be coming along with my working and training supplies and that I am to complete, sign, and mail them back to them. I thought I was supposed to use this "start up check" to purchase my working and training supplies? And for a company who is all about using technology to keep up with the times, I found it very odd that they want to mail me my onboarding paperwork. No one does that.
