Type of a scam Phishing
I responded with my first name, email & phone number and other info about the vehicle I figured the potential buyer would want to know.
I then get an email from [email protected]. His email states “I'd like to come look at it. Is there any bad things on it , like bad suspension, oil leaking etc? I would like to arrange meeting in few days. Hope everything will be great and we will make a deal.”
I respond stating that we have not had any issues with the vehicle. I also say I have a couple other offers in the works, so let he should let me know when his schedule opens up.
His response is as follows: “ I'm ready to come and talk over the details. I also need to make sure everything is legit on the vehicle. Can you provide a current Title Report? My loan officer has requested a report from https://vwthreport.com/. I would really feel more comfortable buying a vehicle with an official Title report.”
I respond stating that the vehicle has a lien against it. I offer to give him the VIN if he wants to the lien holder.
No response. I think this is odd because previously the email conversation has been pretty steady.
Finally, I google “what is the vthreport?” and get directed here. Thanks BBB!
