My daughter contacted a Kijiji poster regarding a used car for sale in a city two hours away from where we live. The ad indicated that the poster was trying to sell the car for their "Auntie", and the car had belonged to their "Auntie's father" who had passed away. A day later, the ad disappeared and my daughter thought the car had sold. Several days later, my daughter was contacted by the "Auntie" who claimed she was a "nurse" and worked shifts, and that my daughter's original email had fallen into her Junk folder. The poster indicated that the car was still for sale, and was now with the "Auntie" in another province thousands of miles from us, but that if my daughter wanted to purchase the car for the stated price (which was well under the going price for a vehicle of this type, year and mileage), the Auntie had a contract with Waberlans Corporation which is an automotive transport company. She provided my daughter with a link (https://waberlans-corporation.com which you can not get to via a normal Google search), and instructed my daughter to register with, and make the payment to, Waberlans, and Waterlans would hold her money in escrow until the vehicle was delivered and my daughter was satisfied with the transaction within 10 days of delivery. My daughter was ready to go ahead with this, but luckily she had sent me a copy of the "Auntie's" email to her. I immediately emailed this individual asking to speak on the telephone with her about this vehicle, and asking whether it was available for viewing and for a test drive by an individual whom I knew in the city that she claimed to be living in. I also questioned her about Waberlans. The response I received was very aggressive and threatening, but I shut that down right away. Upon closer inspection, I found that the three locations that the Waberlans website provided are false. The location in London, UK belongs to a Tile store, the location in Gardena, CA belongs to a cement mixing plant, and the location in Charlottetown, PEI is a large vacant lot. Waberlans claims to be a member of the BBB, but their name did not come up in a search of ScamPulse.com members. I believe that Waberlans is a front for a Virtual Vehicle Vendor scam, and ScamPulse.com should look into the use of their name and logo to lend credibility to this scam company.
