Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I had been praying for a miracle and thought this was it but found it too good to be true. So before I did anything, firest I Googled it for scams and found under Consumerfraud reporting.org that the Secret Shopper is a same and that Walmart does not hire individuals to do that.
I have received TWO TEXT messages One dated: 10/18/2018: Join our Mystery Shopper Team & Earn Up to480 per assignment, Click here web address:https://bit.ly.2J5lZSn to read more and apply and it took me to: ebergementduweb.com; +144375584224 and OOPS!
On 1/4/2018 was the 2nd text and is the same date as the check is dated: Secret Shopper Update*** The check for your 1st task has been delivered via USPS. Pls check your mailbox for the check now and act accordingly. TEXT 210-817-9172 (which is a San Antonio Texas area code). I have attached the documents and image of the envelope. I was leary but considered opening a new separate bank account to deposit the money (so as to protect me real bank account) but now understand the if the check is fake I could be responsible for the $2,000 check if it bounced. There were too many variables that I questioned and knew it was probably a scam. There are so many scammers out there; it just makes me feel sick and hopeless. Please catch them. May they rot in jail.
