On Sept. 3rd, 2024 I purchased a prepaid walmart money card from walmart and loaded $500 on it. I left walmart, drove to Robbinsville, NC. and set up the card online shortly after I returned to my residence. I was prompted by the website that my card would be ready for use within 1 hour of the application completion. Im not absolutely sure whether it was that night or the next night, but I attempted to order items from Amazon only to be directed by their website that my card info was not correct. After 3 attempts and absolute assurety that I entered info correctly, I gave up. The next morning I called walmart money card customer service where I was told that I wasnt the person listed on the account and that there was less than $1.00 left on my balance. I explained to the woman I spoke to that I never even had access to the card and nobody has been near me since I took the card out of the package to set it up. She explained to me that hackers get the information before the cards purchased and drained the funds. I explained to her that I had an existing walmart card that I had also loaded cash on that I couldnt check the balance on cus I lost the password to that email and I would like to confirm the balance on there while we were on the phone. There appeared no problems with that card. She then took my email and info down and said someone would contact me within 5 days. I recieved an email to send photos of any documentation along with a picture of my I.D., which I did send, with a copy of my reciept as well as a picture of the card. I was sent another email days later that said I would receive a refund check for $120 and some change. I responded to the email and said I lost $500 not $120, but the email didnt accept replies. So I called and explained that the existing, working walmart card had been canceled and refunded, but the one with the stolen funds was still under review? I explained to them that I never asked for the other card to be canceled and the info I sent was NEVER for the card they canceled and refunded. I was told they'd review my info and contact me. They did not, so I called again, extremely frustrated, and after talking to multiple people it was explained they would start a new review for the same issue!!!! I got the email, repeated the same steps with picture info and got no response again!! So I called spoke with a gentleman who said he would look into it and call me back. He never did. So I called again and the last group of useless people just repeated that funds were used so they cant reimburse me! Walmarts rules are if its reported immediately and I have not shared my card info theres no liability to the purchaser. I did all the steps correctly, I recently reported the issue to Robbinsville and Silva police and nobody has offered a solution. If they dont fix this issue I will not stop til EVERYONE knows how terrible this experience has been and I will do EVERYTHING in my power to litigate the loss, the time spent, the stress and all the key strokes ive given to the worst customer service ive ever experienced. My money was stolen!!! You can track where it went!!! You can track who it was sent to!!! Meanwhile I cant pay bills!!! This is against policy and I expect an answer!!!! Theres no scammers email. Not sure why the bbb required that in questionaire?
