I applied for a remote travel agent position with a company called Wanderluxe Escape Destinations. A man named Jacob emailed me to sign up for an online interview. After setting a date and time for the call, a man named Edwin contacted me with a webinar address on that day. Upon entering the webinar there were 25 or so attendees to watch the presentation. The presenter's name is Edwin, and come to find out the company's name is not "Wanderluxe Escape Destinations", it's actually "Book with Jacob". Edwin states that Jacob's father started SVH Travel Agency and to follow in his father's footsteps created Book with Jacob. Edwin then starts to explain the normalities of a company and what we the attendees can expect from them. However, at about the 15 minute mark is when things start to become suspicious; as Edwin starts rambling on about how much you can make along with all the benefits offered to the employees. We then get to see video Testimonials from current employees about how fantastic the company is. Finally at the end of the video it's revealed that you will only be hired if you pay a monthly or yearly fee, along with providing personal information via text/email.
