Scammer contacted our business by text stating that he saw our business on the ScamPulse.com website and he would like some painting done. He supplied the dimensions for what painting was needed three bedrooms, two bathrooms and their sizes. He also provided a total square footage of what was needed painting he said that he lived in Tampa and was moving here in three weeks and his wife did not like the color of the rooms and bathroom. He said he wanted them painted white and all we needed to do was the labor. He said that the paint and keys would be delivered to the house. We gave him a quote on how much it would be. He then said that he would send half the payment and once we cash the check, he would give us the address. He said that he sent the check through FedEx and that it would be here Friday. Then gave us an address and said that the paint and the keys would be delivered on Saturday. We corresponded that we would get a lockbox for the key. The check did not arrive on Friday so I contacted him by text stating the check did not come so he sent me a Text saying it was delayed. On Saturday, we went to the house of the address he gave us. we knocked on the door and someone else lived there so I emailed him that we had the wrong address. I asked if you had a picture of the front of the house. He then texted back. Oh sorry I had the wrong address but he did not supply a new address. I also asked him for his phone number because throughout this he had switched to an email for the text instead of a phone number so I wanted to make sure that it was the same person I was initially talking to and the phone number that he sent matched the phone number that was initially text from. I did not hear from him the next day about a new address. Then Monday morning he called and said that FedEx had said that the check was delivered and if I can go check. I checked it was on my porch so I let him know that I had received it and he said once I cashed it that he would give me the address. And then he would get the paint and keys delivered. I then open the check and realized that it was for more than what we had agreed upon the final price was going to be by $1300. I then called the bank that’s on the check to see if I could verify the check , which it look like it was a cashiers check. The bank told me only my bank could call and find out if it was a real check. I called my bank and gave them all the information on the check so they could call and verify it. They called the other bank and verified the account that the check was coming from had been closed . So the check was a fake.
