Type of a scam Phishing
I was disconnected and kept trying to call back. I had work, so when I got put on hold and called back... finally I got a person one time and was just hanging up as they answered - unfortunately. I then called several more times and finally got the same person and tried to find out what the debt was or for whom they were collecting, and they absolutely refused to tell me saying they had told me already, and I said they only told me the last 4 of my social, and couldn't tell me anything until they got my birthday, and so gave me no option, so foolishly I gave it to them, mentioning how you can buy social security numbers... in Croatia on the "dark web" and that was why I was uncomfortable.
They then got more aggressive and refused to continue talking. And stated they were going to pursue a lawsuit, I then notified the lawyer below, then tried looking up the Secretary of State or any such company in Idaho - there were only a few companies with WBS in the name listed but none of them were financial. Most (service) I then looked up to see if there was any licensing board... to see if maybe this was legitimate.
I contacted Jillian Laine who is a Debt Industry Licensing/Examination for the Idaho finance department. She gave them a call and asked what their licensing number was and they were rude, then claimed to only be a debt consolidation company not an (unlicensed) debt collector. She then informed them they do not have the right to attempt collections in the state of Idaho - I contacted my lawyer and sent the following emails below to document this.
3/15/2023 at 11:40 approx they then called using another inbound number ( 332 205 1525) with a different area code than the day before stating this was the first contact and that after 2 contacts that this would go to court. Again there was only part of a message, no company name, and a different 1800 number ( 800 332 3376) I then called they answered WBS, I asked for their address to send a check as Jillian wanted an address to find out where they are to pursue them. (Again this was after being told not to contact anyone in Idaho for this as they are not licensed.) The person then put me on hold and the rude person came on and said to desist from calling them. Where I pointed out 1. they called me from a different number today, with a different outgoing number, and she replied that they talked to the city (not the state) of Idaho already about this. - Acknowledging that they were knowingly and intentionally doing this in direct violation of what they were told by Jillian on 3/14/2023.
They again called today 3/16/2023 from 1 (228) 203-1084 not listing the company as before threatening a lawsuit then a number this time 1 800 435 5194 with no company name again when I called it was WBS and I told them not to call, and that they are not supposed to contact people in Idaho (208) .
