I also asked where he was supposedly farming out of, and he said "california" - which doesn't have the right climate for kola nut so that raised some red flags. Turns out it grows mainly in ... wait for it ... Nigeria lol!

Scott Ryan [email protected] Beware!
Emailed from Ryansc3tt at gmail.com
Beware!
Lt Ryan contacted me. I am glad I found Wendy's blog which led me here. The incident was this morning, Jan 9th, 2024. It was the exact text and email just a change in the domain name. I will block it now. FYI, agroamerica is a legit business that may not know the scammer is using their name. I didn't get far to see a check scam but I will say follow your gut. I'm glad I told Lt Ryan to give me 48 hours to review.
Scott Ryan Scam-- [email protected]
Email came from [email protected] asking for website services. We get leads like this frequently, people want some pricing, but they usually want a call too.
Email communications.
I sent a proposal with my signature. Should I be worried?
I got very concerned when he didn't want a call and wanted to pay "mobile check"
Beware out there everyone.
LT Ryan still scamming, into the new year
Scammer has a new email address
Scammer sent text briefly describing the project and asked for my email address (see screenshot). By this time my spider senses were tingling.
I was curious and sent over my email address, a low-risk decision as my accounts are protected by physical security keys.
Scammer proceeds to send scammy email (see screenshot).
I found this thread by searching for the scammers phone number online, which confirmed my suspicion.
I then called the scammer out on their deception. They have not responded.
The lesson: I need to increase my prices for web design.

At it again
Its a "I pay you too much money and then you send my consultant the difference" type scam. With the incorporation of some Photoshop fun, I led him on for about 6 days while gathering the following info.
Phone: (760) 644-9354
Emails: [email protected] & [email protected]
PayPal Accounts: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] (we had trouble sending money so tried a bunch of different accounts)
Venmo Accounts: @KSwans1969 & @tgraham0616
Hope that this info gets indexed to help others when the search for the above... that they can find this thread.

Web Design Request Scam -- Documenting, goal of reporting to the FBI
Their estimate request did look legit, initially. They mentioned the scope of work, with multiple items and a claimed budget of $3,000-$5,000.
It began to seem sketchy as he/they seemed to forget different aspects of the conversations, so it may be multiple people behind the scam. I actually spoke to one person via Facetime audio; it's likely the number assigned is digital only/masked. They seemed to have the accent of someone on the African continent.
It's almost as though he wanted me to get involved in his scam. He said his "project consultant" couldn't receive checks or credit cards, so he wanted me to charge someone's card (stolen I assume), take a $200 business fee for processing it and then I was to send a portion to his claimed consultant. I told him I was going to use my preferred CC payment processor. He said he couldn't use it, because they had some issues in the past. It's possible my processor already caught on to their scam.
I told him I needed personal information to add to my billing system, so I was able to get his IP address from his sign-up, though this could have been masked as well.
I'm thankful for this website. I'm hoping to find more ways to warn people.

Web Design Request Scam
He requested an email so he could send me his requirements, which appeared normal.
He then accepted a proposal without seeing any work, or even asking to speak with me. He went quiet when I requested a meeting to discuss in detail.
I sent an invoice via Square and did not hear back from him. Took about 24 hours to realize this was BS and found this page to add my story to.
Invoice has been cancelled.
Anything I need to worry about?
"Hi
Do you still offer website design".
Seemed sketchy so I researched and found this page before replying, which of course I won't be doing.
He is trying to scam me right now, same story website for agriculture start up
texted me first
then i told him to email me
sent a very weird email back
and immediately agreed to pay without seeing any work
and now he is begging me to invoice him
i have not yet because this all seemed very sketchy, i am very lucky to have found this thread
