I was provided with the telephone number 410-275-1212. ( these directory results seem to be third party venders ).
I then was greeted with an automated message
that said, ple[censored]d on if you would like to hear about an express warranty special offer. There was also an offer to claim a prize.
I pressed 1 and spoke to a lady who claimed that if I pay 4.95 via debit card or credit card, they will give me a $100 or a $50 voucher. When I told her that I would not be giving any card information over the phone, She said to just call us back at this number (844-509-3165) to provide my information, send payment for the $4.95 for shipping and handling, and they will send my $100 check in the mail. I asked how they were able to do this, because paying money to receive money sounds like a scam- too good to be true. She offered some unclear explanation. I did not give her my information. I did not expect to encounter a scam calling in for the weather. I determined that the number that appeared on the caller id (844-509-3165) belongs to an insurance company that I do not have insurance with.
