My Webroot software was up for renewal. I tried to use the button on the software that said renew now. It did not work so I went to the website & completed a form stating my problem. The site cameback and said someone would call me shortly or I could push the chat button. I hung up because I wanted to talk with someone and within 10 minutes I received a phone call from 806-341-9862. He wanted me to download the software "anydesk" so he could troubleshoot my computer. I was suspicious so I asked him a few questions about my account which he seemed to know like he had my file at Webroot in front of him. I also asked his name & he told me it was Sam Patel. So I did the anydesk download & he told me it was an IP conflict. It was late in the day so he said he would have to contact another person and call me back the next day. He didn't call back the next day so the next day I called him. He answered & said he had tried to call me but he would call me back in a few minutes. My caller ID never showed a call from him so I thought maybe this was a scam. I got on the phone & called Webroot sales number & I got through to their tech support. I told him about what was happening to me & he said they do not use anydesk software and they did not have a Sam Patel, the phone number, or Amarillo as a tech contact & to immediately uninstall anydesk, So I haven't lost any money yet but I am afraid he may have gotten everything off my computer. He did call back about 3 times that last day but I did not answer the phone.
