I applied for a Virtual Assistant job through Indeed. I filled out an email screening interview questionnaire and then was later told I was offered the job. I wanted to double check about the company and searched it up and noticed how the site online had a longer name. They offered paid training and they had legit looking offer letters. I did find it interesting how the company would send me a check to purchase equipment for in home office. I wasn't sketchy at first until I noticed little details; the check to buy equipment, informal speech in emails, inconsistent email signatures, poor grammar, and most of all, urged me to deposit the check. That's when I knew it was a scam.
