I received what looks like a check and has Allocated Waiver printed on it. I called the supposed number for Wells Fargo for more info but then saw that it was addressed to two names. One was mine, and another was a misspelling of my name. So I knew it was a scam and hung up on them before any info was exchanged. The letter had first been sent to an old address for me.

Told me I had fraudulent charges on my account and that my identity was stolen. I stupidly answered questions and gave my driver's license information and ss#.

Mailing references my former mortgage company with statements regarding "final notice", "important matter regarding property at", and included a check called and "allocated waiver" for $199.00. I assumed this might have been a settlement regarding fees, etc. that I had to accept. When I called the number, I was asked for the Record ID in the mailing, and was told Wells Fargo had gifted me with a home warranty that had recently expired. This is false, as I've had no Wells Fargo contact in almost a decade. Simply an attempt to get me to sign up for a possibly fraudulent home warranty. The "seller" kept trying to tell my this had been gifted by Wells Fargo, etc., and then sort of backtracked when I adamantly stated I'd had no contact with them for years. He then stated they were a home warranty company.

I should have googled the phone number before calling, and generally would have, but it caught me a little off guard since it did reference my former mortgage company, and there have occasionally been mischarged fees, etc. by similar companies, if not Wells Fargo themselves.

The email said there was unusual activity on my account and they are limiting my access to my account until I take action to resolve the issue. Also I need to confirm and activate my account. I have 24 hrs and there was a verify now button to click on. While there was a Wells Fargo "logo" picture I didn't click on anything because the email address it came from looked sketchy.

im not sure if this is a scam or not but it sure sounds like one so to be cautious I figured I better check with you all to find out because the email says they have $350,000 USD for me. Can you please email me back to let me know if it is a scam or not.

Text indicated an issue with my account. When I called the number they wanted account info..card number, expiration date, SS#. I stopped shy for giving SS#. Immediately called the bank. I now have a new card on the way. I have sent this to channel 3 as well. Please get this information out so others don’t fall victim. When Wells Fargo sends texts it is from Wells Fargo not Well.F.Bank. When I tried to call back the number “the phone call couldn’t be completed”
