Wellsfargo sent mailers and emails offering $325 if a checking account was opened and over $1000 deposited with $90 days. I called Wellsfargo to walk through account set up and deposits to ensure all was done correctly to qualify. After deposits were made I called again and confirmed with Wellsfargo associate that I would receive $325. Another month went by and I called again and was told I didn't meet the qualifications. I filed an internal complaint and was told that I was lied to and mislead on multiple occasions however they were not going to rake responsibility for their actions despite recognizing their failures and lies.

Wells Fargo is the bank I have been banking with for the majority of the last 20 years and they continually try to figure out ways to get money from their customers. The recent situation they have created is to post pending returns to your checking account online, but leave the customer to guess whether the returned funds are available to use or not. In one situation a merchant refund will be visible in your account online, and the bank will include the pending amount in your available balance. Another time a merchant refund will be pending to your account and the bank will not include the amount in your available balance. The way that these transactions are presented visually online is exactly the same, therefore it is impossible for the customer to tell the difference. If the customer sees the pending transaction and assumes that the amount is included in their available balance and it is not, this can cause their account to be overdrawn. When the account is overdrawn this enables Wells Fargo to charge an overdraft fee. There is no reason for the refunded merchant funds to be posted online in the same way for both situations, unless the bank is purposely trying to deceive the customer, allowing the bank to charge a fee.

I saw an incorrect amount on my credit card on the Wells Fargo web site while I was using my iPad. I went to our desk top computer and went to the Wells Fargo web site. When I got to it there was a message apparently on the Wells Fargo web site saying there had been some suspicious activity and I should call 1-888-414-7014 (or 1-888-414-5717). I did that and was told I was a victim of identity theft. I should've called the 800 #s I have in my phone for Wells Fargo but I called the number on the web site's screen and that turned out to be a scammer. On Nov 28, 2023, the first guy I spoke with took some info from me and switched me to a woman supposedly named "Ashley Smith" at the FTC (allegedly with the Federal Trade Commission.) She got me to put $950 onto two Wal Mart Money Cards ($500 on one and $450 on another.) Then I stupidly texted her photos of the two money cards and my sales receipt. However, on Nov 29, I called Wells Fargo at the 800 # in my phone and found out the 888 #s are not their phone #s. We shut down my credit card and my debit card. Wells Fargo is mailing me new cards. I also changed my user name and password on their web swite. However, I tried to deposit the two money cards into my checking account at the bank with my deposit slip. I called the WalmartMoneyCard phone # on the back of the money cards, 1-877-937-4098. The computerized voice asked me to punch in the card # and the 3-digit # on the back of the card and then, weirdly, asked me for my complete social security number. I stupidly gave it to them but they did not recognize my money card. I then went home and called Walmart about this fraud. The guy told me they never ask for social security numbers. Wow, I did confirm the phone # on the back of the card, 1-877-937-4098, as the correct phone # for the money cards. That phone # is for Green Dot Bank money cards with Walmart. And yet, I was asked for my social security # on it. I told the felliow at Walmart, whose # I got from their web site, about this. It looks as if I am out $950. My fault for falling for that. (I have not heard back from Walmart yet but I just called them about an hour ago.) They fellow at Walmart said he'll escalate this weird, complicated scam to their fraud department.
