New name being used in this cattery scam
I found the website westendranchragdolls.com from a simple google search for ragdolls near me, and browsed through a bit finding mostly legit appearing information, including many testimonials and indication of TIFA and CFA certification. Once I found a kitten I liked, I initiated contact via the webstite's request form.
I got an email reply surprisingly quickly, and after several rounds of polite communication was sent details to initiate a Zelle transfer through my bank. I also started receiving rapid fire (but still polite) text messages from 310-564-4630. At this point I started becoming suspicious, but proceeded with the $750 transfer ($500 for the cat, $250 for transportation).
Following my hunch, I tried to locate the cattery on both TIFA and CFA websites, since the cattery's website asserted certification by both entities. Lo and behold, neither institution listed westendranchragdolls as one of their certified breeders. I asked the representative from the cattery for evidence of certification, and suddenly the rapid fire responses and urgency disappeared.
I contacted my bank and attempted to cancel the transaction, as well as reported the situation to the fraud investigation department. I don't expect to get my money back, and wish I would have verified the supposed "certification" before getting wrapped up in the excitement.

They were extremely responsive which I believe made things seem less threatening and gave less time to think about things. We ended up agreeing to purchasing the cat and they only took Zelle as payment. Which was a red flag, but not as much, since I haven't worked with Zelle before. Since we live in another state they needed to fly the cat.
This morning they dropped it off at the airport and required an additional "$1500" for a thermal case. This is when I started doing more research and found that this was most likely a scam and fraud. Everyone I spoke to was Jamaican and I recently watched a documentary about the "scam game" in Jamaica which reaffirmed my suspicion. There are many articles calling out this company as a scam within the recent months.

Here is the copy and pasted email from this morning that I read and said no way are we sending anymore money. This is a scam!

I called ******** ******* once I realized this was a scam to try to get our money back. She said because it was a friend and family pay that we would have to reach out to PayPal. I did that immediately.
They said because we did the family and friend option that they couldn't do anything. I asked them if they could at least freeze their accounts since it is fraud and we didn't receive the kitten. I asked if they could retrieve part of our money since the $1500 wasn't charged yet on my ******** ******* card.
Their answer was reporting it on PayPal as misuse and contacting your agency. Is there anything you can do to get our money back and shut down this fraudulent website

plus fees? PayPal said that I could request a refund from the sellers. I did that, but of course they have not responded to my requests. My daughters are very upset and, of course, my husband and I are as well. We were excited to welcome a sweet kitten into our home and are now out almost $2300. We would really like to stop these crooks from preying on another family.

9269. There was a "transportation company" involved as well. That was the email that I copied and pasted in quotes above. The man called again around 2:30pm EST today to threaten that if we didn't pay the $1480 that we would be charged with animal neglect and abuse. His number is 323-505-2484.
