West Point Financial Group imposter Reports & Reviews (1)

I had applied for an Administrative Assistant remote position. I was emailed by James Robinson, Interview Department, informing me that my application had been selected for an interview. I was provided information on how to contact the recruiter for my interview - it was to be done via the app Telegram, with a phone number and verification code. I reached out to *** ******, the supposed recruiter. He asked for the verification code and we proceeded with the interview. I was asked a series of questions that were not out of the ordinary. He then told me that he would submit my answers to the Head Department for review and asked me to check back in with him the following morning for the results. I reached out the next morning via Telegram, and was told I scored exceptionally and they wanted to formally offer the job. I was given specific job information as well as details regarding pay and additional benefits. He sent me the official offer letter and a W-4 to sign and send back. I was instructed to follow up again the next morning for more details regarding training and official start date. So again, I reach out and was told that a check would be sent to me for the purchase of required office equipment. Upon receiving the check for mobile deposit, I noticed several different factors that raised red flags. The first being that the account belonged to Kirkwood Builders LLC, but Sterling Accounting and Tax LLC was also listed on the check, the memo stated 2019 taxes. I verified all of the information on the check with legitimate businesses via a quick Google search, but did not feel comfortable continuing the process to deposit it into my personal account. I reached out to *** and expressed some concerns, along with asking a few questions. It seemed that he was going back and forth on different answers, so I began to question even more. I decided to call West Point Financial Group directly to express my concerns as well as verify what was being asked of me. I called WPFG and spoke to ********* (sp?) and informed her that I wanted to verify information. She apologized profusely and stated they have had several people call in with the same concerns and advised it IS a scam and that they have alerted the authorities already. She asked for some of my information to keep on file to add to their police report. I provided all of the contact information I had for both *** ****** and James Robinson. She advised that *** is a current employee and recruiter, but does NOT use Telegram to communicate.
