I was looking for a specific guitar which I could not find anywhere except amazon (which was sold out), out of country (which didn't ship to the US), and the business in question. The available payment options were Bank,Wire Transfer, Cash App, Google Pay, Venmo, Zelle, Crypto Currency, or card payment. I didn't want to put my card or banking information because my card has a high limit, and though I couldn't initially find any negative reviews about the company online, I wasn't familiar with the company and didn't want to take the chance of them making fraudulent charges. So, I opted to send through Zelle. Immediately after placing my order, I received an order confirmation saying that the payment could not be initiated (2/28/24), so I went use their chat feature to ensure their was no issue with the order. The sales team responded a minute later ( which wasn't odd as the chat said the usually reply immediately). I received the email with the Zelle information and sent it to the email along with a screenshot to the email from the sales team. At 4:47, I received another email saying to hold for payment confirmation and they would be back with me once it was confirmed. At 10:20, they payment was confirmed and I was notified that the order would be registered with a courier company for delivery and that company would contact me regarding the tracking number and that I should let them (the seller company) know when I receive a shipment notification from the courier. On Saturday (the next day), I received an email the next day from the courier company saying that my shipment was registered along with the information for shipping. However, the also informed me that my shipment requires insurance before it goes into transit. The fee was $242.79 and 90% would be returned to me after a I confirm the successful freight delivery. After 72 hours my shipment would be delayed and after 14 business days my shipment would be discarded if the fee wasn't paid. The seller never mentioned any potential fees pertaining to the item when it was purchased. Additionally, the courier mentioned that their record indicated that Zelle was my default payment method so they also included their Zelle information in the email. All of this struck me as weird, so I reached out an inquired more about the insurance fee. They explained the rational but it still didn't right with me to emailed the back ( the same day; Saturday) to let them know I would not be paying the fee and that they could send the item back. Monday (3/4/24), I messaged the seller through their chat feature and inquired about whether I could receive a refund if I sent the item back with no response. I also emailed them that same day to let them no the shipper would be returning the item to them with no response. Today (3/7/24), I emailed the shipper back to ask for an update on the return. They informed me the seller refuses to pay the return and "they're "unable to process the return at this time." I've called the number on the website twice, had other friends call twice and wrote through the chat widget on the website with no response. I wouldn't be upset if it was a legit company and the corresponded with me to see however I can get my return (even if they had to deduct the return ship fee) but they will not contact me now that the money is sent. It is also important to note that in looking up the company there is a review on Yelp from someone that has potentially had a similar scam experience as recent as January of 2024. Additionally, the business address is a house (based on google maps). I'm not sure how in searching for a guitar through google, it is one of the first website to come up but I'm just putting it out there so no once else has this experience.
