Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
After reading through the instruction letter I checked routing number on check. The bank was in Lewiston Maine, address on priority envelope was Arkansas and the “survey coordinators” area code was Lometa, Texas and Georgetown Tx caller ID name did not match “survey coordinator”. I googled “wal-card auditoria approved locations” which was printed on the evaluation form I was to fill out. A few articles came up on google about this scam.
I texted “survey coordinator” to let him know I deposited check (which I did not). Three hours later I texted and told him gift cards were purchased. (Which they were not). He then asked me to scratch off the silver strip on backside of cards and send photo.
I did not send any photo. Instead I told him the Walmart Employee asked me why I was buying the gift cards. I told the “survey coordinator” that I was unable to lie to Walmart associate so I told her I am a Mystery Shopper. I proceeded to tell him the employee immediately called the manager at which point I was being detained pending police arrival.
I have not heard back from the “survey coordinator”. I thought it would be ‘fun’ to scam him as they have scammed others!!!
