J Austin Colwell aka Jerome Colwell aka Jack Colwell, has fraudulently garnered $10,053 in donations claiming to have a 501c.3 non profit. This money was to be used for lawsuits he would file against wild horse and Burro roundups held by the Bureau of Land Management. After it was found he wasn’t a legitimate org on 8/3/22, he admitted to knowing he wasn't a nonprofit and hadn’t done any of the work or requirements. He claimed that was why he ‘wasn’t actively soliciting donations’. And then changed the dialogue on the Gofund, without saying anything to his donors. Now the GoFundMe says he ‘will be using the majority of the donations to acquire his nonprofit status. If anything is left he will use it as intended’. While he admitted to me, and changed the GoFundMe writeup, he still claims "non profit" and has made $50, since knowing he was reported to the federal government. Those are also just the donations from GoFundMe, not including the money made by his website, that just has some random photos, a mission statement, and a donate button.

Many of his donators don’t know what to do with an illegitimate org who has admittedly already spent “3/4” of the money to date. And still, even though he's changed the GoFundMe dialogue, he has never admitted to his donors publicly that this is true. He has five different social media accounts all claiming "nonprofit" status, even today, after admitting to me he's illegitimate. There isn't a business license on record for him or his "business" or "nonprofit" in California, even though the GoFundMe he set up is for a "Business". Dept of Justice has the application he filed for a "charity", but he never included any federal ID, FEIN, tax documents, and ZERO requirements. Hasn't added info still today. Nor has he yet, to date, reported the $10,053 hes garnered unlawfully, to the Dept of Justice for his nonprofit.
