A person claiming to represent “Windows Technical Department” called to tell me that I have viruses on my computer. The caller wasn’t able to explain how he ascertained this, nor was he able to tell me what virus my computer was suspected of carrying. I didn’t keep him on the line long enough to determine what information he was trying to extract, but it was clearly a phishing attempt.

I heard about the scam where scammers call to get people to say "yes," then make charges or open accounts because they have the voice recording that can be used as a verbal authorization.
My daughter answered my phone while I was in the bathroom, then she just handed it to me and I said, "hello." The man called me by my name, he said, Ms ... And I said, "yes" and he immediately hung up. I tried to call the number back and it says, the wireless customer you are calling is not available. They never called back after that. My daughter said the man said he was from "Windows." I did not call Windows or do not need anything from Windows. Anyway, I thought it to be strange to hang up after I said "yes." The number the man called from is 888-987-4561. I'm bringing this to your attention and I immediately notified my bank as well. Thank you

I had a man who called saying he was calling from Microsoft about my computer. He asked me to turn on my computer. I have an apple computer and when I told him this he started asking questions about the operating system, and asked me to turn it on. I told him it was a scam, and I wouldn't be turning on my computer for him, since I don't have a windows computer and asked him to put me on his "do not call" list. He then said it wasn't a scam and asked me to turn on the computer and he would walk me through everything and I would understand. I told him I wouldn't and it was rude to scam people and he hung up on me.
He was very insistent that I needed his help. He would not let it go, and never used my name. There is no way he would have known what computer I had if he didn't know my name. Although, I have a hispanic last name and he started the conversation in spanish, which I do not speak. So maybe he did know and I just couldn't understand because he was speaking a different language with an East Indian accent.

I received a phone call from this number indicating he was technical support from Windows and that my email address was being used to send spam to people worldwide. He knew my email address and persisted that he was going to show me how people were getting access to my email trying to hack my network system looking for personal information. He wanted me to give him access to my computer.

The same phone number showed up on Caller ID. They called on 3/29/17 at 3:50, 4:59, 6:43, 7:12. I answered the
phone call on the 7:12 call. I think I said 'yes?' and the caller said "This is Jason from Windows", and then he hung up.
When I told my wife what happened she said I'd probably just been scammed when I said yes. I am now reporting the incident to the BBB. Thank you.

Called my home number, I answered because there was a person's name and phone number listed, sounded like a call center with background information. He had an accent, and said he was calling from "Windows" and said they had received notification of several error messages from my computer and asked me if I was sitting down in front of my computer. I told him "no thanks" and hung up. I called the number back today and there was a recording that said it was a disconnected number. I looked up the person's name on white pages and there were a few US addresses listed for that individual.

A lady called saying she was from tech support, a problem had been identified with our computer, and I needed to get online and do something or other so they could help me. I hung up, but they called back 6 times in a period of two hours late one evening.
I got a call this morning (Saturday) at 7:20am, from Steven in India, telling me that my Windows program on my computer notified them that there was a problem. I get many of these calls, sometimes several a week. I've talked to several computer experts and the all say, there is no way your Windows program on your computer notifies them.
I want these ridiculous calls to stop. These guys that barely speak English, start to argue and yell at me about my computer contacting them that it needs help.
