Type of a scam Employment
A couple of days passed, I've received a hired letter from HR along with Orientation and training instructions. I was also instructed that I will be receiving my home office supplies to set up at home as a workspace provided by the company's 3rd party vendor. HR emailed me the instructions and list of office supplies that were to be delivered to me. The scammer issued me a check to deposit in order to receive the funds to purchase the office equipments. "Becky" confirmed with me whether that deposit went through and when I confirmed it, she then told me that I will need to issue a cashier's check from my bank in order to pay the vendor, who will be delivering the equipment to my home the day of and will need the payments before delivery can happen and so I can start my training. They wanted to use my name on the purchaser's receipt. She provided me the name, bank account number, and routing number I was to deposit the funds to. She then told me that she's working with the vendor to get the equipment shipped the same day.
A couple of hours later, she informed me that the delivery was delayed and I started to get suspicious. I've confirmed with someone I know that works for the company that this is a very odd hiring process. She knows the real person I was talking to and warned me that the way "Becky" talks don't sound like the real Becky. She also confirmed that their company doesn't offer stock options as stated on the Employee hired letter I've received. I immediately contacted my bank the same day I've deposited my Cashier's check. They informed me that I will need to go to my branch for help and I went to the bank the next day.
