Roughly a week ago, I had filled out a form that came via fax that I thought provided an opportunity to network with successful women. I had forgotten about the fax and was surprised by the call. She stated that my application was accepted and their committee had done a little background research into my work and i was being nominated for as the Connecticut candidate for theWoman of Distinction award, and not only that, I was actuality chosen as the winner! She gushed about my stellar work and peer review and that this would be a published marketing tool for me, that I would have a yearly piece refreshed just about me, all for no cost to me! She told me that there's a special library edition available in every library across the state. She told that this is an immense honor because the yearly publication would be refreshed, all done by their team that does in-depth backfire checks at no charge. Obviously I would be able to proof read and edit these articles but wouldn't it be nice to have a copy of something to display my title? She reinforced there was no membership cost but there is a beautiful, black, leather-bound edition or a plaque to hang on my wall. The book? $399.50. The plaque is $299.50. When I said that simply isn't in my budget right now she said this is only available right now, they're about to go to print! She assumed the plaque was more appealing so she dropped the shopping cost and when I hesitate again she said the lowest she could do was $199.50 but as soon as I repeated it isn't something I could do with my budget the line went dead, she was gone.

I received a fax at my job asking if there is anyone who could be nominated to be included on the list of Women of distinction for 2020. An outstanding person who has contributed to the betterment of others. I filled out the form nominating myself. I was contacted later (this month) 3/2020. By the Director Julie *** who stated I have won and I will be included in the book for the state of California. I will receive a copy of the book, a plaque with my accolades, 2 airplane tickets to anywhere in the United States. She then congratulated me and told me if I wanted the a copy of the book it would cost me $499.50 and the plaque is $299.50. But she would give me a discount for both at $599.75. When I suggested she wait until my next payday she reduced the price for all to $399.50 because my story is so amazing!! I went so far as to call my bank while she waited on speaker to transfer money to my checking account from my savings account. Just before I started to give her my card info. Somthing stopped me (a thought), that I really don't know this person and hi should Google this and check it out. I told her as much and suggested thst I give het a call right back after. Julie attempted to reduce the price more stating this is the deadline I have to pay today and this is the same company that I returned the fax to. I then realized this is a big scam I told well that's too bad because I can't just give you my personal banking info and card number until I am able to research the Women of Distinction organisation. I said so just forget about it. After hanging up. I received 2 more calls from her however I didn't answer and I thanked God for my intuition of not giving her my information and actually paying the money. Now I have read complaints from others and I truly believe somthing must be done about the Women of Distinction and Julie. Stop her from scamming people especially seniors like myself at 68 years old. Thank you so much for listening.
