I was approached on What'sApp by a person saying they had a work from home business buying and rating apps. I had put our some interest in this sort of online so I assumed she found me through that. She gave me a training account, which seemed to be hers which showed me how to make money by completing a series of tasks. Three sets of tasks 35 app ratings each. After the second set you are supposed to be able to withdrawal your funds. I started using my own account and put 100 dollars because that is how you can buy and rate the apps. I completed the first set of 35 without a problem. On the second set of tasks I got what they call a "combination" task which requires you to add more money into you account because this would create a deficit in funds. I put 100 more dollars in and completed the task. I was delayed in completing it but their CS assured me that if I complete the task I could withdrawal my funds. After I completed the task they would not let me withdrawal and told me the rules state that I have to complete two tasks in one day. I complained because they had told me I could withdrawal the funds in a very clear manner and I gave them the last of my money. They would not budge so I started the second task with the hope that I would not have to put more money in I put in 300 more dollars and still was unable to complete the task and was not given any money back. They just keep asking for more money and I feel like a sucker for having given them anything. I got scammed and I am very very very poor. Please shut down these evil people. Thank you.

Received an email regarding a job offer. Reached out via Microsoft teams. Job offering $28/hr for data entry. After a series of questions they said they will mail me a check. I knew right away it was a scam.

it was a work-from-home job offer with a link to an employment application and a 4-page employment contract

they sent me checks to deposit and pay out by Zelle as emergency response donations

Scammer reached out via text message. After applying on indeed.

Hello, This is Alex Marquez the Work From Home Data Entry

Good luck.

I followed the steps and chatted with a Christine Melissa on 8/15/2023. Several in depth interview questions. I was selected and told to follow the below steps.

To enable you to sit for this job and position there are working equipment and software are required for this job and position this is because you will be working from home as all expenses are handled by the company, so, therefore, the company will be sending you a check or Direct Deposit, this check or direct deposit will be for the purchase of all the working equipment that you need as you will be purchasing them from the company local vendor, method of purchase and means of payment will be made known to you when the check or direct deposit get to you, as you will be getting the check or direct deposit asap...You are advised to Add Benjamin George your supervisor 8am tomorrow morning using Skype, Here is the information You need While adding (live:.cid.3adb4b9763852f3e) You are to Email me or chat me up on here once you add him tomorrow he will be in charge of your duties is that clear?

Explain to me what you understand in the last paragraph.

On 8/16/2023 I connect with Benjamin George on Skype. He emailed me my new higher paperwork and offer letter. I completed the paperwork and returned to the email address [email protected]. Check of equipment was to be issued on Monday 8/21/2023.

On 8/17/2023 I again met with Benjamin George to confirm that I would receive a check tomorrow. I ask for company information and for a contact at HR. He would not give me the information. He would not call me. He stopped responding. I also reached out yo my initials contact Christine Melissa. No response.

I did give my personal information and tax information. I used an old bank account as a precautionary.

I received a Text Message from Rose Donovan from Afentra PLC regarding my resume on CareerBuilder. The position was remote for HR Manager. I was told to contact Mr. Paul McDade CEO of Afentra. The text wanted me to download Microsoft Teams and email [email protected].

Very suspicious to me. I researched Afentra PLC they are located in the United Kingdom. They are a publicly traded company in the oil and energy sector. Their website has no careers opening. Paul McDade is the CEO. I also know a corporation would never use @outlook.com for their email.

When I googled the phone number, it told me it came from West Palm Beach, FL, and that is when I saw others have had the same number contact them. I deleted the number and did not text or download Teams as I already have Teams and did not email the address.

Monday, Feb. 20, 2023 I was emailed from a Brian Miller about a remote copy editor position paying $49/hour for 30 hours/week for a high-end swimwear retail company that started in Peru. Included were instructions to sign up for a text interview a Katie Brass. When I signed up, I had the one-way interview via text.

Tuesday, Feb. 21, I got a job offer by a Brian Miller in HR, although it didn't come from his own company email address, oddly enough. We spoke on the phone, but we kept having a bad connection, the call dropped several times, and he was using Google Voice. He had a strong unidentifiable accent and said he was in Miami. I didn't learn much about the company or about Brian's own personal experience at the company, and there's very little on LinkedIn.

When I looked up the company address on the letterhead in the attached PDFs, it's the address of Theme Dresser, a retail clothing shop that carries the Capittana brand, but I spoke with the store manager who confirmed that there's no Capittana office there.

I'm concerned that it could be a scam but am also wondering if it could just be a small company that doesn't have its act together yet, although it does seem like several red flags.

I applied for a work at home position. The company demanded my personal banking information including my login and password info so they could deposit money into my account. They requested I purchase the software they required. My bank verified the deposit was counterfeit. I am now facing my account being closed out and opening an entire new account. The interview process was just a coverup to get my info. Please do not make the same mistake by attempting to work with this sham of a company.
