On LinkedIn, WAOFP advertised that it was free to apply and free to join the organization. I clicked on the link and applied for membership with the promise and hope of being accepted, thinking that this would be a great way to network and meet new female professionals and mentors. Today I received a phone call from Krista Mattheis with Worldwide Association of Female Professionals and she told me she had a few more questions in order to make a decision about whether or not I would be accepted into this elite organization. She sounded like she was in a call center - lots of background noise. After at least 20 minutes of questions about my career she "wanted to be the first one to welcome me into the WAOFP." She said that they would write an online profile about me and an announcement of my acceptance to the other members. Then she asked me if I wanted to pay for the lifetime membership ($989) or the 5-year ($700). I told her I couldn't afford it at this time, so she offered me the 1 year ($289) and I let her know I'd still need to call her back. She gave me her number and name. At the very least, this is a bait & switch with the ads on LinkedIn saying "free to apply, free to join." At worst, it's an all out misrepresentation and a group of people praying on women working to grow and increase their professional networking and development.

The Worldwide Association of Female Professionals advertises networking and support for leaders in various professional fields. While membership is advertised as free, heavy ego stroking is followed by requests for credit card information, which is followed by incorrect charges to your account. Email responses to complaints are anything but professionally written! Contact requesting cancellation of membership and services are not answered, and services provided are not meet the professional level of quality advertised.
