Person called about a car then hung up, i texted back he wanted to buy my car but needed a clean tital and to verify it before he would come see it and that made perfect sense to me. He provided a link for me to go to and I did to get a vin report and opted to go on and pay for it considering carfax was twice as much however I noticed after a few hours the e-mail from the company had some odd information regarding e-mail address. One e-mail looked correct using the domain of the wesite buth the other used a gmail account and that sounded a bit odd.

I was first called ( I was in a meeting), then texted about a vehicle that I had listed on Craigslist. It was a local number and seemed to be normal text that usually occurs when someone is inquiring about a used vehicle. The person on the other end of the call wanted a vehicle history report from www.officialvin.com. It should have been a red flag as I could not find any information in Google about them, but I proceeded with the report since I hadn't pulled one on the vehicle yet and figured other would probably want to see it as well and the phone number was local.

When I received the report, it was very basic and extremely outdated. I have owned the vehicle for over 6 years and it still had the previous owners title information listed. I knew I had been had. When I texted back and asked if a carfax was acceptable (even though I had already run the officialvin report), I received no answer.

This ended up costing me $18.95 to run the report which was worthless. I notified my bank to flag any further charges from the company.
