Passport online misleads the user to think you are on the government of Canada website to renew your passport. It looks similar and talks only about renewing your passport until your credit card information is input. Once you realize they are asking for too much information for a renewal it is too late to leave the page. I did leave the page, but even without 'submitting' or approving the purchase, they billed my credit card though provided no service. The billing on my credit card statement was for backgroundchecksonline (not passportonline) which they posed as to get the credit card information. If they had indicated early in the process or landing page that they were a background check service, I and others would not have been scammed. No service was provided. BMO is pursuing as a fraudulent site, but I wanted others to know so they do not make the same mistake as me.
