I received an automated message from "Xcel Energy" saying that my bill was delinquent and I had 30 minutes to pay or my power would be turned off. It said to press one to hear payment options. I did not press one, and hung up.

I received a call from a lady saying that she was with Xcel Energy stating that if I didn't pay my bill today that services would be shut off. I called the number back and asked if she was with Xcel and she said no and hung up the phone. I called Xcel to see if my bill had been processed which it had been.

About 4:35 this afternoon, I received a recorded message claiming to be from Xcel Energy regarding cancelling our electricity service due to unpaid bills. At the messages end, it directed pressing "1" to get details. Upon pressing "1" a man, identifying himself as "Antonio," stated that our bill was unpaid for the last 3 cycles, &, $350.11 was due immediately to avoid cutoff today. He asked if we had "autopay" which we do. Then, he said for me to check with our bank to reinstate the autopay. Next, he tried to get me to allow him to direct me to get into our bank's website to enable him to direct arrangements for the payment. I did not think that he answered my questions well, as I had the sense that I was being SCAMMED. I terminated the call. I checked our account with Xcel, & we have a $0 balance.

Scammer said to press 1 to make payment on overdue acct or press 2 to stop interruption in service. Pressed 1 and asked for address and name on account. Then asked me to pay now over the phone. Asked me who I banked through and then asked me to make payment. I said no. They hung up.

I Received a call from Xcel and he said he was going to save money on his light bill and tried to lure me into giving him my bank account number for auto draft. I asked for a name and number and he hung up on me.

scammer threatened to turn off power to the building for non-payment and requested payment

called from 806-240-0037, and left the 800 number as a call back. the same man, we think, answered the call at the 800 number.

A man who said his name was Bobby Johnson called me on my home phone, told me he had my name and address and said he was with Xcel Energy. The caller ID was 806-367-8043. He said we were behind with our bill of $496 and that he need to collect $296 today or it would be cut off. He told me I had one hour to go to either a United Grocery Store or Dollar General and get a green pack then call him back as soon as I had it for further instructions. He gave me the number to call him back, 800-368-6153. I told him I was busy right now and hung up. He called two other times and I just told him I know it's a scam and I'm not doing anything he asked. I called the ScamPulse.com and they explained it was a scam and explained what Spoofing was.

Scammer called and said electric bill was over due and if I didn't pay someone was coming out in 45 minutes to shut off electricity. I told them I would check my bill and call Xcel myself. They then gave me a work order number and a phone number to call to get to the correct department to get it taken care of. The number they gave me to call was 877-477-2811.

The man called my cell number and told me I had not paid my Xcel energy bill for 4 months and a tech was enroute to disconnect service. He wanted my address and account information. I told him if he was from Xcel he should have my address, which he gave to me for verification. He stated that I had been sent multiple disconnection notices which were not responded to by me and service was being disconnected. I informed him that the money had been taken from my bank account each month, so xcel should have the money. I had received no notices of disconnection, so their tech had better not disconnect my service. I would be calling the police. He stated that the tech had a work order, so calling the police would not stop the disconnection, and I would need to pay for service to be reconnected, as well as, the past due amounts. I told him his tech had better not step foot on my property, I would be calling Xcel myself and hung up. I called my bank and verified that each month the Xcel bill had been taken from my account. When called Xcel, all payments had been received each month and my account was current. I called the police; they referred me this site.

We got a call at work from "xcel energy" saying our account was past due and they would had work order number xxxxx to come disconnect our power at 1130am. They knew our service address and the amount of our last 2 invoices and said if we did not have the total amount plus a late fee paid before 1130am, the would have to complete the work order. When I told them I had paid the previous month and the check for the current bill should be delivered today in the mail (due date on the current bill was Sunday 1/26 and this all took place 1/27) they told me the previous check was unreadable so they returned it to the sender. They gave very detailed instructions about us having to go to CVS, Family Dollar, Dollar General, CEFCO or Walgreens and getting 2 Money PAKs to make up the total amount since they max out at $500 and they said we owed $611.56. They then wanted us to call them with the number off of the Money PAKs so they could claim those payments. All 3 phone numbers they called from and/or gave me to call them were answered with the typical Xcel Energy jingle and standard menu choices just like when you call the legitimate Xcel phone numbers.

We are a Realty/Property mgmt. company that manages us and pays our utility bills for our tenants. Our tenants have received several calls form someone claiming to be Mr. Sanchez with Xcel Energy. He wants payments right then for past due electric bills or threatens to cut off electric. When our tenants tell the caller they don't pay their own bill the person hangs up. The number on the caller ID is actually the number for Xcel Energy. 800-651-3480. I called the ScamPulse.com to let them know this was happening.

Xcel Energy stating that there is a monthly service fee for having a meter at a property that has been rented by myself for the last 6+ years, the power has been turned off and locked out for the last 3+ years, and all of a sudden they send me a bill for $40.65 saying that there is a monthly fee for having a meter on the property, which is a scam as there has been no fee there for the last 3 years. Also saying that they'll have to take the meter out, which it is a permanent fixture and has been there for decades. This is all an attempt by the Chief of Police for the city of Mellen to wreck my credit score and an attempt at personal gain as he will not quit interferring in my life and invading my privacy. I told Xcel that I am filing a complaint with the ScamPulse.com and they told me to go ahead. I refuse to pay this bill and want to alert others of this scam as I rent the lot and there has never been any service charge for renting such!

A man claiming to be from Xcel Energy called saying I owed them money. He said I needed to go get a money gram for $500 and send it to him or else my electricity would be shut off.

The scammers called saying they were from Xcel Energy and that they had sent notification that my meters needed to be replaced and there was a balance of $255.00 on my account. They tell you that your power will be shut off if you don't go to a Walmart and put the $255.00 on a MasterCard Walmart money card. The number that shows up is 1-800-895-4999. The names they used were Michael Rodriquez and Joshua Ramirez.

Received a phone call from someone who said they were from XCel Energy and that we owed $841.17. He told me we had better have the money to the post office today or they would be cutting off the gas and turning us over to a collection agency.

Told him we didn't owe them any money and he told me they hadn't received any payments over the last several months so we owed them the $841.17. Told him that I would check with our bank and see if all of the checks had cleared and asked him 3 times what the mailing address was for XCel. He just hung up at that point.

Contacted in response to an online job application. I was contacted online by person 1, then connected to person 2 online identified as interviewer. Day 2 there was a further conversation .

In dialog below, the person stating they were with Xcel Energy is referred to as Interviewer. I am referred to as "Interviewee".

Day 2:

INTERVIEWER:

You will need some Data entry/Accounting software and also a time tracker to commence your training and orientation and also you need the software to get started with work...the work of the time tracker is to calculate your hours worked since this is an online work from home.

They will have it sent to the address you have just provided so I suppose the name you provided is same on your bank info.

INTERVIEWEE:

Okay.

Yes, name provided is same as bank account information.

INTERVIEWER:

As soon as the check its been issued out to you i will notify you and provide you with the tracking number so you can keep track and know when it will get to you and Note: The check will be coming to you Via FedEx or USPS..

Okay.

INTERVIEWER:

Once you receive the check you are needed to have it deposited to your bank account ,Then the funds will be will be credited and available in your account for cash out the next day morning....You are to purchase this software's from the shipping agent who we have been buying from for years now.

My apologizes, but I do not feel comfortable with the process of me depositing the check and being credited.

If that how this will be handled, I cannot accept the terms.

At this point the "interviewer" stopped communicating.

Warning on a potential XCEL Scam! I got a call saying my account was past due and needed to pay in 30 minutes or my power would be shut off. They want payment with a money order and call from a number that uses XCELS hold/call prompt. It sounded super legit! If anyone wants to mess with this guy--- please call 855-653-2321 and bother these [censored]! They have a call center with multiple call takers and make it sound like they are really XCEL employees at a busy center. It's sad that scams like this exist. (Also XCEL was no help in reporting the scam)
