Buyer beware! They reached out to our church offering a gorgeous cello for sale. They used the name Splah Movers and the person who had their "cello" stored was Lisa Raymond. She alleged it was in storage with Splash Movers and she could no longer play due to a cyst on her pinky. They only communicated through email. They eventually asked for a delivery fee and once we sent the fee they tried asking for another payment to release it from the unit. They became aggressive and pushy and it turned out to be a complete scam. My mom is devastated. Please avoid at all costs!

Exact same thing happened with me. Someone named "Emma Johnson" reached out to me with the email address [email protected], with the message:
""It’s a very beautiful workmanship by a masterly hand. Very nice cello Nicolas Vuillaume with a great sound. Very good condition . Body 75.6 cm .. Size: 4/4, Trademark: Brandless, with 4 strings and with a Surface in Natural state. You ain’t gonna be disappointed with the tone.
Also comes with a 4/4 cello case mixed carbon fiber cello box light and Fine quality brazilwood bow with genuine horsehair. It's currently stored in Annapolis, MD with the movers I employed to move my properties from my house."

They changed their story from a cyst on their pinky to rheumatoid arthritis. Beware!

I had the same issue. Someone named “Julian Hahn” reached out to me with the email address [email protected]
Saying “It's a very beautiful workmanship by a masterly hand. Very nice Nicolas Vuillaume cello with a great sound. Very good condition. Body 75.6 cm ... Size: 4/4, Trademark: Brandless, with 4 strings and with a Surface in Natural state. You won't be disappointed with the tone.
Also comes with a 4/4 cello case mixed carbon fiber cello box light and Fine quality brazilwood bow with genuine horsehair.

Attached are some pictures:

The Cello is currently in storage in Annapolis, Maryland with the movers I employed to move my properties from my house. If you really don't mind making new arrangements with the movers, I can attempt to get in touch with them to reroute it. This should not attract too many charges since the distance can be covered within a day or two. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but do let me know if you wish that I talk to the movers.”
With regards to their story of the cyst on their hand is verbatim the email you and I received.

I was contacted by "Lisa Raymond" [email protected] to donate a grand piano to our church. "Xppress" Movers wanted a storage and moving fee sent to Lucas Khiry [email protected] or Kerin Worth [email protected] I payed $215 for storage and when it came time to move the piano, no response from anyone and in fact the email address I had been using, [email protected] , has been taken down. We are a nonprofit that raises money for the local food bank, and they ripped us off. They even sent pics and a video of the piano. I should have realized it was a scam by the bad grammar and broken english being used in the emails. Beware if you receive an unsolicited email from any of them!

A man named Peter Franklin contacted my child's piano teacher via email and offered his late wife's baby grand piano for donation to someone who would cherish it because he knew she taught lessons. He was willing to have it shipped to her across the US from Massachusets because he was downsizing and moving to Idaho and he knew she would not want her to sell it because she had been a music teacher herself at Berklee College of music, which is a real place. He told the piano teacher his friend told him about her, but avoided giving the friend's name evidently. He sent pictures, but she couldn't open them. All I had to do was contact the movers and the person telling me to do so was our piano teacher. I contacted them and no one ever picked up. You HAD to email. Someone responded and said they needed my full name and address for an accurate price quote for me to pay for moving. If you google map, google could not access the actual visual of the store. I called the businesses nearby and they confirmed that EXpress Movers was no longer in service. One store even gave me another number. Hmmm? Note, if you search for that business on google, the page that comes up is different than the link that was sent but all the business information is accurate like the address.
