The scam encountered involved an offer for employment for a remote position with great pay and full benefits. The position included various duties one which includes processing payments. Initially this did not seem alarming however later on upon receipt of my first task the request was made to receive a payment for parts purchased and complete a monetary transfer to the regional manager. This is where things became suspicious. The direction given was to receive the payments, deposit the checks into my personal account and deduct what was considered a haste bonus and collections bonus. In total I was due to receive $833 of $2400. Prior to depositing the checks I questioned the "Recruiter" and expressed the checks appeared to be some sort of fraud because although the checking and routing #'s checked out the checks had been prepared using check software. I also informed her the checks would be held for 10 days before they would clear which was all my attempt to confirm the checks were legitimate. The recruiter then assured me the checks were legit and to notify her once payment had cleared and transfer complete. I deposited the checks, they did in deed clear on a Thursday and were returned on Tuesday for insufficient funds this withdrew the remaining funds I had available in my account and created a deficit of $860 dollars and counting in NSF fees. This job offer came immediately following losing anther job so needless to say I let my state of unemployment get the best of me in hopes of believing I had found something within my field but I was basically just used. I attempted to reach out to the recruiter following the incident she asked for documentation confirming the checks had been returned but once I submitted the documentation I never heard from her again.

I received an email from an Anne Rodriguez claiming to be with Yamaha Motor Engineering stating that my resume had been recieved, and asking if I was interested in a job. Since applying for several jobs marked as confidential for the employer name, I did not suspect anything. About a week later, I received another email from the same individual stating that they were impressed by resume, and that I was selected for the job, and that I had to let them know by the next Minday, if I agreed to terms. They had attached a detailed legal document with the Yamaha logo that outlined the salary, and how the positioned worked, and a start date. I was a little suspicious, because there had been no interview what so ever, but out of desperation for what seemed like a dream job, I replied that I accepted. The day before the position was supposed to begin, I received an email from Anne stating my information had been sent to HR and she would be in touch with my first assignment, because the supervisor was no lo,get there. That was Thursday. I did not respond to the email, because at this point, I'm completely aware this is a scam. The following Tuesday I receive my "first assignment" which had instructions to collect payment, deposit the money into my account, and withhold so much for myself, and then send whatever was left back to Yamaha. Then 2 days later, I received 2 checks in the mail from an individual made out to me in the exact amounts of what I was supposed to collect. I had never reached out to anyone for payment. I promptly received an email that it was company policy to notify the HR representative who was the acting supervisor that I have received payment.

Red flags that have come up, were there was never an interview conducted, no phone number was given to reach the company's HR representative, and the final huge red flag was that I am supposed to deposit checks into my bank account, and send the company money from my account.

I never unfortunately in the beginning did not suspect that it was a scam, because they never asked for my social or any routing information for a bank account.
