My father found a 2017 Thor Citation Sprinter 24SR off of Facebook Marketplace advertised for $34,500 including shipping. He could only email the lady of said she recently got divorced and needed to sale asap. She told him to contact a third party trucking escrow company to purchase RV site unseen. He contact trucking company to see if he could go out and see it in person and pay with cashier check but they informed him they only except wire transfer and owner (lady) needed to be present to view RV. They sent him official looking documents which asked for a picture of license, ss, utility bill and a picture of himself. The trucking company in question has a DOT license that you can look up online to confirm. It should be noted that when lady emailed she misspelled many words. Original ad was perfectly spelled. The trucking company had foreign accents. I looked up website using the info I found on ScamPulse.com article informing of such scams and it appears the trucking website originated in Iceland. When you google map address for trucking company which are 3 different ones, 2 are apartments and the other is a warehouse but had a different company name on it. Since many red flags were present i easily found all you ScamPulse.com articles on the many fraud happing during Covid and my father didn’t go through with anything. We were lucky but do not want someone else to lose money over this scam.
