My pregnant wife and I went to Florida for a little vacation and booked a car through Expedia. Little did we know they'd offload us to a "car rental agency" essentially operated by pirates. Upon arrival they demanded we pay $200 for additional insurance unless we had a *printed copy* of our own policy. Located far from other reputable rental agencies, there's no way out (and, even in the middle of Omicron, they refused to wear masks around my pregnant wife). We wanted to just start our vacation and get out of there, so we agreed. After returning the car spotless, we found a surprise $250 charge several days later--they'd kept the card number on file, no notification or justification. In other words, theft. Scam. Fraud. Turns out this has happened to scores of people, just read the reviews. How is an operation like this allowed to stay open? Why won't Expedia and others de-platform them?
