I bought a stained glass bird from Joseph Martinez Crafts; it said a veteran who had lost both legs and an arm, made the stained glass creations. What I got was a cheap plastic thing made in China. Communication went through [email protected]. I asked them to refund my money; they said I needed to send it back...to an address in China. I went back to PayPal, told them the info, and they refunded my money. These people need to be taken down.

I came across a Facebook ad about a company started by a US Veteran who had lost limbs in the line of duty. It showcased beautiful handmade products reportedly made by the veteran himself. I ordered 3 stained glass products priced at $26.50 each and received a 15% discount for a total purchase price of $69.95. However, when I received the products, they were cheap plastic and packaged in boxes labeled with something written in Chinese. I promptly wrote to the seller and sent pictures of my order confirmation with the tracking number and pictures of what I received, as well as pictures from their website. I got an email requesting additional information, including a statement of why I couldn't be satisfied with the purchase. I sent that to them and continued my attempt to get a full refund for the products from the seller, who insisted on giving me 20% off to keep the trash they sent me. They even tried to convince me to take the discount, stating, "The returning process may take a month, and the shipping fees may cost you about 20 USD." (Another clue that I'm not dealing with an American -- in America, 20 USD is usually stated $20). I am just heartsick that someone would use a real-life veteran's story to pull off a scam like this. This company needs to be shut down.

This Facebook post has been reposted hundreds and hundreds of times, claiming to be an American veteran who was wounded and lost his legs, selling these beautiful little birds, that he supposedly made himself, leading victims to follow the link to the website listed, which claims to be highly rated by the Better Business Bureau. And the website continues pandering to the American patriotic, while supposedly selling these birds. The problem is that the pictures of the veteran in question are not Joseph Martinez… I believe the man’s name is Travis Mills. When people have commented on the post, he follows up by furthering his please for money by claiming that his mother has cancer. It is obvious that many people commenting there have sent him money. Some of my friends have reposted his post not understanding that it is a scam, and at least one has attempted to place an order. I am not sure if it’s really about getting money from the people individually or about stealing their identities.

This company popped up on my Facebook feed. I knew right away whose pictures they were because I volunteer for the Travis Mills Foundation. Being a disabled veteran myself and knowing Mr. Mills personally, I do not appreciate the images of him and family being used under false pretenses. This is beyond disgusting!

Website attempting to sell items under a pseudo name, information and website. Using the name ****** ********, disabled veteran, and stating he has made crafts and is selling them on the website which is fraudulent. Also has on the website that they are "A Member of the ScamPulse.com with A+ rating! Buy worry-free from an accredited store." They were advertising on Facebook using a ****** ********** pictures and story about losing a limb in the service and needing to sell is crafts - which I cannot find this information now.

I did research as well...I put the link in my report listed on this page under the phone number 505-730-0884. I live in NM and the area code is one of ours, so I thought it was strange. You are spot on!
