Global Bytes IP Solutions called me to say that hackers were trying to get on my computer. I purchased a ONE TIME/ONE YEAR subscription in 2023 for $3468.11 - I know I am not getting this money back. Their software caused my computer to crash. They are now alleging that I owe them from $20,000.00 for 2024-2028. They won’t let me cancel the service without paying that amount and have my bank account on file and I am in the process of closing that. They are now threatening to send the $20,000.00 to third part collections. When I asked them if their third party collection agency was also a scam, they hung up on me. It seems like they did cancel the service but I’m terrified of them having my data, access to bank information, and that they are going to get $20,000 from my account. I am retired and on a fixed income. I wanted to report this scam but also question what happens with the 3rd party collection once/if they contact me. Thank you for your help.
