Letter from 1(888) 801-8190 asking me stating a final notice to inform me of an important matter regarding my property, and reserving to revoke allocated waiver after 7 days, and to call to verify information. Very vague official looking check for $199.00, deceptively looking like it came from Wells Fargo Bk Na, regarding my property and lender. The fake check clearly says in small letters this is not a check, not affiliated with Wells Fargo. Shows a RECORD ID: xxxxxxxx. And the number to call is 1-888-801-8190

Got a letter from 1(888) 801-8190 saying "FINAL NOTICE" and used my mortgage company's name. "This letter is to inform you about an important matter regarding the property at [ADDRESS] secured by your current lender which is [MORTGAGE COMPANY]. We reserve the right to revoke allocated waiver after 7 days of receiving this notice."

then, "Please CALL IMMEDIATELY as this will be our FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU 1-888-801-8190"

Below was a real looking check for $199.00. Below it says "THIS IS NOT A CHECK" in fine print.

This scammer with no name of any kind or address advised me to call them regarding my mortgage address and had my bank name. It had a number to call: 1-888-801-8190 CST M-F, no Saturdays. They provided a so called "record id" and had what looks to be a charge of $199.00.

It says immediate action is needed or they have the right to revoke an allocated waiver.

Letter also said "immediate response" Had a contract phone number on it 1 888 801 8190 with a $199.99 Allocated waiver in my name. The letter has no company address or email. Note: I own my house, I have no mortgage on my house.

Received a FINAL NOTICE with a Record ID number saying it was to inform me about an important matter regarding the property at (my home address) secured by your current lender which is (actually this name was a former mortgage company, from 2 refinances ago) It is laid out to resemble a check with an "Allocated Waiver" amount of $199.00. The letter has no information about the sender except for the note to "Please Call IMMEDIATELY as this will be our FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU 1-888-801-8190. Internet research of the phone number revealed this may be from a home warranty company.

The scam uses sending victims a fake check from what appears to be a refund from their mortgage company. The targeted scam lists the mortgage company's name at the top of the mailer.
