I was contacted and sent the following emails and text messages. I did not interview or anything but wanted to post what it looks like for others. Texted from 7706270424

These people contacted me about a work from home position and I thought it strange that the interview was thru text so I went along to see what they wanted. They wanted me to open a bank account so they could send me funds to buy work computers.

- Memphis, TN, USA

Employment Akka Technologies. They are offering employment $35 as a work from home clerical administrator. They said they would be sending checks for materials needed but are asking that that I send some back back via Amazon gift cards.

I was contacted on indeed.com about a job with this company. I was interviewed on Google Hangout and offered the job of Manager, but it was very unclear what the job was. He would never directly say. But he kept telling me I would be sent a check with instructions to pay for a computer/supplies, and the job would pay $50,000 a year via Direct Deposit. I gave them my banking information and personal information as they said it was needed for New Hire Paperwork. When I got the check in the mail and read the instructions, it became very clear this was a scam and not legitimate.

The "employer" asked me to google hangout the hiring manager. I did at 9pm cst I chatted with "John Smith" from Akka Technologies for about an hour. He asked me to buy some gift cards to unlock a Macbook that they'd send me along with some other equipment . Sounded unbelievable. Initially asked me to buy 5 $100 pre-paid cards at Walmart. This made no sense but I bought the cards scratched it off and sent him the codes with the receipt. He said he would send the tracking info for sending the laptop and a check to reimburse me and to purchase other equipment. He said the supervisor would send further instructions that morning. Morning came there was nothing and of course the cards were redeemed. I received a fraudulent check for $1500

Got a text from 480-933-8937 (Paula Dean)
Like everyone else, was invited to do a telegram interview. Now I'm just toying with them and wasting their time for my entertainment lol

I applied for an online position, I received a message saying that in order to do an interview I needed to download Telegram and send code "AKKATECH244860-9" to Markus Leutert at the number provided above on the application. I had a normal interview conversation with standard questions about the position. I can include screenshots of the conversation if needed. After about 30 minutes of waiting for them to "Speak with the hiring manager" I got a message back that I had the position and would be receiving a check for start-up supplies and to let them know when it arrived and they would send me a list of what to buy for this position, (computer, printer, scanner, cords, etc). This happened on 6/22, and then he reached out on 6/23 letting me know the tracking number and to reach out to them when I got the check.

What happened after that?

- Porter Ranch, CA, USA

I got a text message from a Pamela Grant supposedly Head of the Hiring Recruiters Dept at AKKA Technologies they are hiring for Customer Service with pay of $35 per hour and she said they are located worldwide.

Another one here. Too good to be true. Send me out a cheque without even getting interviewed correctly.
The check may be issued out by any of our 45 affiliated companies who owes AKKA Technologies some amount of money so this automatically serves as our refund as it is used solely for the benefit of our employees.

Make sure you use the funds as instructed for the software programs/working equipment and I will refer you to one of the company's certified vendors you are to purchase them from at a discount rate due to the company's long lasting relationship and agreement with them. The vendor will be responsible for making the installations of the software with the required updates and patches before shipping them to you.

All working materials come with the company's official logo branded on them. Okay?

I had the same experience this morning asking me to setup telegram. I did my research also to find out the number was from New York. I told them I was just offered a local job and didn't go back online to check the job results. It pays to do your research. Its a scam. I reported it to the BBB.

Was asked to setup a telegram account to do the interview. went thru the process as I even gave them my full name address and phone number. the 65.00 hr was unrelistic then I decieded to research thru the internet reviews and scams and I found alot of the same issues. They want me to get back on telegram tomorrow at 9am for job results. not doing it. I texted them back stating I was offered a local job and wasn't interested. Be aware the company is real but this person is using your information from the internet as I was looking for a job. that is how they got my phone number because I do not have a landline just mobile number.

I received the same information as the above. I even went a step further and did the id.me with them. Once Tyler Reed stated a deposit would be made into my account. I became skeptical about the whole ordeal. I was first offer a customer service position on yesterday at $35 an hour. Today I was told that I'm now going to be head of the branch that will be set up my city and I would be supervising everything.

I received the same BS about AKKA, which I know to be a kickboxing and karate association because I used to be part of so I initially was hesitant when the head of HR blah blah blah offered me a $65 an hour position and kept pushing me to interview through telegram and all that BS I let them continue to txt and I ultimately stated at what point in their scam would they be asking for my banking information... Ha! They were speechless for a bit then proceeded to ask me the next day I believe if I was still interested... How sure they are of themselves. Let's not give me them any details about ourselves or our information. As someone else stated our time and legitimate job opportunity searches are precious and we shouldn't have to worry about some [censored] trying to scam us and waste our time in this crucial time in our lives. Thank you all for listening and I'll m glad we can post our experiences here for others to see and be warned about it the BS. Thank you.

The job interview was conducted through Telegram App. They provided the job description along with details stating that I would begin the job the next day but haven’t been properly contacted through HR to start the hiring process. They ask for a photo and my full name, email, address and cell. Which I provided and have since deleted from the app. I fear that they will use that little information to create a fake ID or access some of my financial history. I’ve attached a print screen of the discussion to cash the check.

I got a nearly identical text to the first poster, though it listed the recruiter name of Tyler Reed, and was offering a position in customer service for $35.00/hour, having found my resume on CareerBuilder.com.
I won't be responding to the text (314-441-4700, spoofed number) but will be reporting it to the site.
Thanks to all those who posted about this already!

Hi, so this number messaged me randomly. I always google random numbers that message me, especially because this one said my full name. I was able to quickly find this list of people sharing their experience with the scammer. I am answering questions with incorrect information so I can post the screenshots so people can see what is said. The "company" (Tencent Holdings Ltd) this is from is a different name from AKKA Tech, but I see that they seem change the company name up after a while. Please don't give any information to these people. And if you do, block them, call your bank, if they have actually sent you a check of anything, report it to the police. Also, If they say where they found your resume, report it to that jobsite. Don't get scammed or make it easier for any kind of identity theft/fraud. Hope everyone is well!

This maybe is a potential scam, I received a check from DIVERSIFIED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CORP. the job is for the company AKKA Technologies and the check that I received from Illinois through FedEx. the address from the check indicates Florida.

they will send a new check and they told me this one will be good because I had a rejection from the bank, because the first FedEx package was deleted. Is to purchasing the working materials from the company.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES

Got text today from number 320-362-6406. They're rude and abrupt. I asked basic questions and the typos were noticeable. I just felt a shady vibe from this. I need actual legit work, so it annoys me to have my time wasted. Is this a real company? I just can't decide. But I feel queasy when they say a generic phrase about how they found my resume online. I immediately think, where? I do not trust anyone anymore.

They found me again with the phone number above
