Alliance Moving Storage Reports & Reviews (5)

I contacted this company on a Google search, when seeking estimates from companies that did interstate moving and storage. I was only looking for estimates, since my house sale was pending and far from the date of closing. However, because of the time of year (summer) there was urgency to lock in dates. This company called over and over after I called them, pushing me to give my credit card over the phone to lock in the date (approx. 6 weeks away). They assured me that I could cancel and receive my deposit back for a full refund, as long as I cancelled at least a week prior to the move date. I was very busy and hadn't been on my computer for a couple of days. I did some research on the company, found out there were many complaints against them, saw the estimate they emailed, tried to cancel by email in writing, and after a number of attempts to cancel by both email and phone and no response had to cancel my credit card. Their estimate included the stiff penalties for cancellation, which I did not read until two days after the phone call. I was taken for over $3000.00.

Same thing happened to me. There is a way to get your money back provided it was a CC and not a debit card.

Issue a chargeback with your bank. They will reach out to these crooks who will then provide your bank with the contract, which will cause the bank to reissue the charge. Next step, get the consumer financial protection bureau involved. The minute your bank hears from them, they’ll side with you over these thieves.

A despicable company. Roger Stein was extremely responsive during the sale process and then disappeared into thin air when problems arose with the move. He also low-balled my move quote and I ended up paying more than twice the amount quoted. The company they contracted for my move, Deluxe Moving, came and picked up my household goods in CT using their local truck. I was not made aware of this until all my possessions were loaded. Only afterwards was I informed that this truck would be driven to their NJ location, unloaded and reloaded onto their long-distance trailer. When the movers arrived, nearly 3 weeks later, five large items were missing from the truck. Since then, I have relentlessly called, texted, emailed both Alliance and Deluxe Moving to find out where my items are and when I will receive them - all to no avail. They got my money and they are gone, gone, gone. As a side, the movers also left a box that does not belong to me. A box full of a child's shoes and clothing. I have no way of knowing how to contact the poor family who are now missing these things. Steer clear of Alliance Moving and Storage! The most unethical, deceitful company I have ever encountered. You will think you are getting a good deal, but you will pay dearly.

1.) It charges customers more money than they agreed to

2.) It claims to charge by cubic foot

3.) It asks you to pay or sign a moving contract before it does an in-home estimate

4.) It doesn’t have "real" third-party reviews

5.) Alliance Moving & Storage are aware that, most complaints against movers are overlooked and the consumer becomes a statistic while no action is ever taken against the moving company.

When Congress dissolved the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) in 1995, they also removed the authority from the FMCSA to step in on a consumer’s behalf if they are taken advantage of by a moving company. In other words, they don’t have the authority to help you even if they want to. If an investigation does occur, it takes months if not years for the FMCSA to, yes, get this… Fine the moving company. The scam moving companies get away with not paying the fines and if they did, the consumers don’t see a dime of their money back. The money from the moving company’s fines go to pay for highway improvements!

This company is really bad in terms of promising you their commitment to deliver on best price and on top of that their promise of the estimate being a binding one that will not change or increase upon pick up. They will play all kinds of tricks to give a low estimate and when the moving company they contract with shows up, they claim that the estimate is way off and it's going to cost more. So, when you tell them that the estimate was guaranteed, the actual moving company claims that they are the ones estimating more accurately when they arrive on site. However, I had done a detailed inventory check with the initial person on the phone 3 times to make sure the estimate was as accurate as possible. Plus, the person that gave me the initial estimate told me he would be available to assist if any issues came up during pick up. So, when I tried calling him, there was no answer. I think I called 30 times. Finally, his manager (Mr. Roger Stein) texted me from his phone number, telling me to call customer service and that it's no longer their issue. When I called customer service several times, there was no answer. Eventually, someone calls me from customer service and tells me that I had given them an inaccurate inventory list, which is totally false. I did it 3 times with video chatting and actually showed the person on the phone everything. TI asked to cancel the service and refund my money. They said they cannot do that. So, I disputed the charge on my credit card. They are deceitful and unethical. Do a lot of research on the companies to want to move you furniture. Make sure they have been critiqued and endorsed by some kind of 3rd party independent agency like consumer affairs.
