Altus Group Reports & Reviews (1)

This person named Adam King reached out to me via email advising that
he was following up on my application for the Remote Technical Support Specialist position at ALTUS GROUP. He stated that they were currently in the process of finalizing their hiring decisions and wanted to check in to see if I was still interested in the position. If I was, I was to respond to the email with "Yes." He also indicated that if I was hired, my training would be conducted online via Zoom video.

Initially, I was leery about the email because he addressed me a "Dear Candidate," and not by my name. It was only AFTER I replied back, with my name that he began addressing me by my name.

Adam sent me a PDF document that contacted 16 questions on troubleshooting technical issues. He also stated that this job paid $124,000-$135.000 annually (this is $55.60/hr) and that the questionnaire was also an interview. The salary he listed sounded suspicious, but because I am currently searching for another job, I decided to complete the questionnaire. Two days later, he emailed me back and stated that based on my responses, they are offering me the job. I was excited, but still a little suspicious because there were things in the email that weren't adding up. 1. He changed the starting salary from what was listed in the job description he sent to $55/hr, which comes to $114,400 annually. 2. He told me that my training was going to be for 3-5 days, that we would communicate via email and video. 3. He said that he would send me an uplink to the company's server as well as the names and phone numbers of the people who would be on my team. 4. He never gave me a start date. When I questioned him about when my start date would be because I would need to inform my current employer when my last day would be, he never responded back.

He asked me to email the Human Resources department at [email protected] with my name, address, phone number, and email address, which I did.

He said that before I would start, they would send me the funds I need to purchase the equipment to do the job. This also was suspicious because if I'm working for you, why do I need to buy equipment (i.e. laptops, printers, external hard drives, headset with a microphone, routers, surge protectors etc.).

I received the email from HR, which did not have a person's name or phone number listed, with the company's Employment Offer Letter, and was told to print the letter, read it carefully, sign it and email it back. It also stated that I needed to attach a copy of my valid ID (front and back) for employment confirmation. I did not email them my ID. They also told me that the position required me to work between 9am-5pm CST Monday-Friday. They still didn't indicate a start date.

In the Offer Letter, they indicated that my compensation would include the wage rate they indicated at the rate of $55/hr, but then added that I would be paid $50/hr for training, which was never mentioned in the job description or when they claimed that I was hired.

Instead of replying back to the email right away, I slept on it. The next morning at 7:30am, they sent me another email from HR saying that it was a reminder to respond to the employment offer letter if I was still interested. I waited and seven hours later, I replied back advising them that I was having some issues with some things that were indicated in the emails being sent.

I have not heard back from them, and don't expect to hear back.

I have attached copies of the emails sent from Adam King with my replies and also the emails from the HR department with my replies. I have attached the questionnaire/interview they conducted as well as the Offer Letter (that I never signed and returned).

I don't believe Altus Group knows that their company name is being used by these scammers. I submitted an inquiry on their website (not through the link that the scammers provided), asking them about the job that was being offered and letting them know that someone is out here impersonating their company and scamming people with job offers.

Thank you!
