I was trying to get a new passport and start the application online and I clicked the first website that showed up because it was named

" US PASSPORT." However I did not realize it was scam until my bank contacted me and notified me of the payment being a scam. I also realized online that lots of people have had the same issue with being scammed. I called the number they gave online for assistance and it never rang it was silent and just hung up. I gave them my social security, address, family history and I am now afraid they will do something with my social.

Somehow I got off of the US government State Department site and onto this one that fakes it. Still cannot figure out how it happened. The site looks like and acts like the government site. I put in a whole bunch of private information as one might expect when trying to renew a passport.
