I was searching for a job and found this fake company on LinkedIn. I applied and I got an email from someone named Kristen Robinson that supposedly worked in their HR department. They said they were interested in getting an interview with me and we had an email thread going. Then one day they sent me an offer letter and said the decision had been made hastily due to a need to fill the position. I accepted the job offer, signed the offer letter, and put in my two weeks notice at my other current job. Then they asked me to get an app called Telegram to message them until I got a company email. When I got the app, Kristen sent me a video welcoming me to the company but was not looking at the camera; she claimed to be in a meeting while she filmed it. I continued messaging with the HR person and they notified me that I would be receiving a PDF check through my email and they needed me to print it out, sign it, and let them know when I had deposited it. I received an email from someone named Dorothy Vatner with the pdf's of the check, printed and signed it, and let them know. Then they asked me to use that money to pay someone who would be ordering materials for me for this job. They said it would be for a laptop and a program. They asked me to Venmo the full amount, $1,950. It didn't work at first because Venmo has a limit to transactions, so they had me pay $500 to someone named Galadriel Ricci. This payment originally went through, but after about a week or so, it was rejected and returned to my bank account, but my account on Venmo has been frozen and it is negative due to this transaction. Originally, when the full payment wasn't able to go through Venmo, they asked me to use Zelle for the rest of it. I paid $1400 to someone named Isleen Graham. This payment went through and because of that, and then the bounced check, my account in my bank is also now negative. Once this scam had been completed, the person never spoke to me again and after a couple days they blocked me. I am under severe financial stress due to this and am hoping there is something that can be done about it. I have included the offer letter they sent me, but I didn't see an option to include another document so I am not able to submit the pdf check. Please get back to me as soon as possible and thank you!

from there we communicated via email and chat. I received a job contract and a check from a credit union. I ordered computer equipment from the website provided to me. the check bounced and i never received the equipment. I have multiple emails and accachments.

I sent in my resume. I looked up the company website and they sent me a check for equipment and I deposited it proceeded to purchase the equipment through the “approved” vendor and then the check they gave me bounced.

Overview and working hours:

The company will take full responsibility for your Office equipment. You will also undergo two weeks of training online from your home via video conference with your training supervisor and you will be paid $20.00 per hour during training and later goes up to $27.00 per hour when you start working after 2weeks of training.

You will be required to set up your own time schedule while working for Calista Therapeutics, either as a Full time employee working 35hours weekly (you can also work extra hours to make it 40hrs/week) or Part time employee working 20hours weekly. We understand the importance of work-life balance and want to provide our employees with the flexibility they need to succeed both professionally and personally. However, please note that we expect our employees to meet their deadlines and commitments on time, and that the work schedule should be aligned with the business needs of our company. We will be providing you with comprehensive guidance on how to set your working hours during the orientation session of your training.

The Position involves:

1. Running and processing multiple documents online.

2. Utilizing and effectively using the Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

3. Collecting information and updating it on the company database and few administrative tasks.

4. Taking records of the company status and entering them into an established tracking system.

5. Assignments will be sent to you via e-mail and you will report directly to your immediate supervisor.

Was contacted via text about a job opportunity (LinkedIn) for data entry. Asked to send resume to Kristen Robinson <[email protected]>. Once resume was received, was asked to go to link for a quick survey/quiz. A couple of days later, received email about employment acceptance and was asked to download the Telegram App so that we may correspond on there. Once that was done, the HR (Kristen) (user name for Telegram App: @kristen_robinson). Explained that everyone is working remote and that they would send a check via email for my office supplies, because they had problems with checks getting lost in the mail. Email check arrived a day later from ( Dorothy Vatner <[email protected]>) for $950.00. She asked for me to take picture of front and back (already endorsed with my signature so she could check to see if everything is correct. Odd request. I said I was not comfortable doing that and requested that they buy the supplies and have it delivered to me. No response from her since that conversation. I also made a call to the bank on the check and verified with them. Account does not match name on check. Person identified themselves as an HR representative of Calista Therapeutics stating that I applied to a remote data entry position with their company. They were offering $27/hr for the position along with benefits, sending IT equipment, etc. They requested that I take an assessment but also fill out a form that included giving my bank name/info to see if it was compatible with their system. After researching the company, they are a start up company based out of someone’s home and no where near capable of providing that hourly wage nor full benefits.
