Received a text from someone named Alexis from CNFI USA. This person stated that they were from CNFI USA and noticed I'd requested a loan of 50000; they also stated that they had managed to get me pre-approved. Asked me to call them at (844) 699-3623 to discuss further. The last line of the text was to type "End" to opt out. I responded with "End" and received a text confirming that I'd been unsubscribed. I was also told I could resubscribe by texting "START". The actual "from" info was actually the number 40158

This same number also text a second time later on to see if I received the first text.

I received a text from “40158”. (This is the number recorded on my phone ID, which makes me think it’s a bot.)

The message read:

“ Hi Lawrence, this is Alexis from CNFI USA. I see that you recently requested a loan for 40000. I was able to get you pre-approved. Do you have a few mins to discuss next steps? You can also reach us on (844) 699-3623.

Text End to opt out”

I went online to investigate who this company is, since I was curious as to whether someone had perhaps used my identity to apply for a loan. However, through ScamPulse.com and other sources, I saw almost the exact same language that was texted to me reported as a scam – including the name “Alexis.“

Repeated texts from CNFI USA to follow up on a $40,000 loan (which was never applied for). Typically from 'Alexis from CNFI USA'. Asking for a call to review each time. Never called, never would. But the consistency lends legitimacy, so that's why I worry about others.

Received a text from a short code number (40158) for Alexis with CNFI USA stating that I was pre-approved for $70,000 and to reach out to (844) 699-3623. The company appears to be based in FL, USA. At the end of the text, there was an opt-out option. I haven't applied for any loans. The text had grammatical errors and abbreviations for words (mins for minutes). No link was proved in the text. I didn't lose any money because I wasn't fooled.

I received a text message from SMS short code 40158 at 5:00 PM PST stating the following:

I have not applied for any such loan.
