Who was your “hiring manager”?

- Aubrey, TX, USA

I received a text message on Wednesday, May 15th from a number 559-717-8538. The person on the other line asked if I was myself and I said yes who is asking. He stated that his name was Mr. Fred Thomas from CNO Financial Groups and he saw my resume on Zip Recruiter. He offered me a position with the company and wanted to know if I would be ready to do an interview. I said yes and then he replies and tells me that I have to install Google Hangouts in order to do the interview. I did the interview with John Turner the next day through Google Hangouts. I passed the interview however it was all through texts. I never spoke to the two people about the position. After the interview they wanted me to start work immediately. I told them I would not be able to because as I mention during the interview I was still working at my current job and needed to provide two weeks notice. John Turner, the supervisor asked if I could work on Saturday from 8-4 and I said ok. I logged online this morning on Google Hangouts and was given my first task as a administrative assistant: I want you to write short notes on how to Develop Administrative Assistant Skills and the Best Tips for Handling Administrative Assistant Duties. Minimum of two and half pages.

Have it done in WORD and forwarded to me.

Time limit is three hours

I knew that this was a scam because this has happened to be last year with a different company. This company states that they will send you a check so that you can pay for your equipment to work from home. When you try to process the check there are no funds available. Luckily, no money was taken out of my account. I just wanted to report this because I do not want anyone else to fall into this trap and waste their time.

An individual by the name of Peter Ward, reached out to me from a job posting via social media facebook, and offered me a "work from home" job. I was contacted through text message first then was told to accept an invite on 'hangouts.' When I mentioned it seemed unreal, I was then emailed with an explanation of the company and job description. It was nothing like what I'm accustomed to receiving when looking for a job.

They tried scamming me into saying they wanted to hire me for a data entry clerk. They first texted me (got my number from job center or monster website , my resume is on both) and then asked me to message nick

Williams on Skype. He "interviewd" me on Skype only messaging. After like 20 mins offered me a job. Sending this "official document" I was to sign and send back. I did not do that. But then told me they were going to send me a check to go

Buy equipment from a vendor. Thats when I knew it was for sure a scam. They wanted me to deposit the check into my account then go buy whatever. Absolutely not! This is so sad, can't imagine how many people these jerks steal from.
