My son re-installed Windows on his PC and needed to download a new copy of Webroot anti-virus software because it was already paid for. Not thinking, we forgot that we purchased this from Best Buy Geek Squad and going fast we mistakenly went to what we thought was a legitimate Webroot website.

The site was titled:

"Redownload or Get Your Keycode - Enter Your Product Key Setup".

When you go there a page then comes up asking for:

* Activation code
* Name
* Phone number
* Email

We provided this and about 5 minutes later we get 3 phone calls and a voicemail from Ojai, CA (+1 805-669-3501). I was too busy working on the computer to answer the phone figuring it was spam anyway.

We realized our mistake and went to the Best Buy site and downloaded the Webroot software. All good on that end.

I went to phone and played the voicemail and was shocked that he said he was from Webroot. The voicemail said:

"Hi this is Ralph and I am calling from Webroot. Please give us a call if you need assistance. We are here to help. Thank you and have a great day."

The lesson learned is that the bad guys are getting your info through this "Sponsored" website:

webstore.getsecuredsetup.com

The URL is:

https://webrootsecurity.netlify.app/?tk=9PIFKi1vwyl3EqJTAULS4soDRBjuntXM

I blocked the phone number.

Thank you.

PS: If people already know of these guys and have their phone number why are they not stopped?
