Dominion energy Reports & Reviews (59)

Received an automated call stating our business electric account would be disconnected for non-payment if we did not call 877-593-5533 within 30 minutes to make a payment. I verified our AP paid our current bill and called the local number on a bill and verified that recording was not from Dominion Energy. I did call the 877 # and was put on hold then disconnected.

- Columbia, SC, USA

Automated/recorded call from 1-877-542-4227 saying the electric bill is past due and if it was not paid within 30 minutes they would disconnect service and gave me the number 1 866-571-5550 to call to pay the bill, I called to let them know I knew it was a scam and they said have a nice day

Posing as my energy company

- Fairfax, VA, USA

Received a robocall stating that my power would be shutoff in 30 minutes due to lack of payment. Called the number provided, 800-819-0420. Sounded legit when I called but purposely chose the option to report a downed line. The person answers "Dominion Payment Department" so I asked for clarification and he hung up.

Got a call from an automated message claiming to be Dominion Energy and that if we did not call back and give them payment immediately then our power would be shut off. I called back and played dumb but did not give out any info and when I asked the "employee" his name he immediately hung up the phone.

They called themselves Dominion Power. They have the same hold music and some options the same as calling the regular power company. They said our account is in trouble of being cancelled if we do not pay now.

They do not have our account info. Just the phone number and our banking details and they would clear up any account issues.

They were kind of convincing. NEED TO WATCH OUT FOR THEM

- Midlothian, VA, USA

I received a call stating my power will be terminated and the trucks were on the way. I told them that my bill was paid on 8/20 and I have a confirmation number. They said it was not in the system and I needed to call another number. 1-800-368-0204. When I called, the person gave me a case number FR0271-8744 and told me that I need to make a payment to prevent a cutoff. He said I would receive a refund when my payment is found. He then told me to make a Moneypak payment at the nearest Kroger. I immediately hung up.

Caller said that Dominion had sent 2 legal notice about termination of service due to unpaid account. I hung up as soon as they said that. They knew my name and address

A male came to my home without i.d., utility vehicle or uniform. He was wearing a lime green shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. He held something that looked like a pressure washer and had a plastic spray bottle with a pink liquid in it. He said he had to check for a gas leak. He stated he didn't have i.d. because he had only been with the company for 2 months. I called Dominion energy and they had no record of any order for someone to come out. He tried to provide me with the local number to call instead, yet Dominion stated there was no local number and all employees or contractors have badges. He just left. Appeared to be a Hispanic male between 27 and 30 and height of 5'5 to 5'7. Because he didn't get an opportunity to get to my meter I don't know what he was planning to do. Once Dominion was on the phone he said he would just leave and have someone else check for the leak. It was disturbing. The police were notified and were going to drive around the area.

I was told our electricity was going to be turned off in 30 mins. I needed to call 1-800-731-9790. It was answered by an automated system that sounded legit. I spoke to a gentleman that sounded legit. He asked me a lot of questions. Put me on hold to cancel the technician that was going to turn off my power. He asked me questions about my payments and informed me that I was sent 2 notices about turning off my power, that was legally required. Informed by that I needed to pay to keep my power on. Had me questioning my payments! Asked me check numbers that I had payed from previous months. He told me I needed to pay, I told him I was not comfortable paying over the phone and that I would pay online. He told me to go ahead and call the number on the bill and double check... but it would be faster if I just made tha payment while on the phone.

I received an email from "Dominion Energy" addressed to me, stating my new bill is now available online. It correctly stated my mailing address house number, the first two letters of the street (the rest was ***), and the correct City and State. It also stated my "Dominion Energy North Carolina Account Ending In:***7562" (I do not have such an account; I have Wake Electric). "Amount To Be Charged: $43.76 Payment Date: 05/21/2019". You could click on "View My Bill", which I did not. Then it stated "It is our pleasure to serve your energy needs and to provide you with the convenience of managing your account(s) online. Thank you, Dominion Energy North Carolina Customer Service". There was no phone number, email address or mailing address given.

The number calls appearing to be from Dominion Energy and the number rings back to Dominion energy but they have no record of a call being made when you call back. The person who calls is a woman who speaks spanish and they quickly hang up

- Richmond, VA, USA

I received an automated message on our business line saying Dominion Energy had tried several times to reach us about a planned disconnection happening within the next 45 minutes. I pressed # to reach someone about the outage. The phone rang and a gentleman picked up saying "Dominion Energy this is Jason?". I told him about the automated message. He asked me for our phone number and I gave it to him. He then asked if we were located at (gave address of our old business location). I told him that was our old location and he then hung up on me.

The number on caller ID showed as Cumberland, VA and was 804-492 number. I checked Dominion's outage map and they have no projects in our zip code as a planned outage/disconnection. I'm sure this was a scam.

- Fredericksburg, VA, USA

This person claimed that an unpaid bill would result in the electric service being disconnected an hour before noon. (The call came in at 11:45am) When we called the number business recorded said we had reached BC Hydro. The person who answered said he was with Dominion Energy. He would not tell me the account that was in default or give me an account number. He said that the power had already been disconnected (which was not the case as I was there). I told him that he was not conducting business in a proper manner and he advised me to contact the utility directly and hung up. Total scam. I pay on line and have a record of all payments so I was able to also quickly verify that none of the eight accounts I have was past due.

- Springfield, VA, USA

Received Call regarding my Electrical utility. Was told that they are going to disconnect my service and needed to call a number to fix the issue.

Called the number and was told they havent received payment and I needed to make a deposit.

I asked to talk to supervisor and was transfer to another individual. He just repeated the same info.

Call keep getting disconnected when ever I ask for something that they had no answer too. At some point they got upset with my repeated calls and told that if i wanted to be alive in the next few days to stop calling.

- Great Falls, VA, USA

Scammer called and said that we were passed due on Electric Bill and would have power disconnected within 40 minutes. Said notice was mailed out 10 days prior and therefore would disconnect. Said we would have to travel to office in Front Royal Virginia or Richmond to pay balance to avoid disconnection.

I called Dominion Energy and found that there is no late payment due and that our account is up to date.

- Arlington, VA, USA

Received phone call to my place of business claiming to be Dominion Energy and that a technician is coming to shut off our power. Gave phone number to call to make payment. After giving cc information over the phone they claimed it could not go through due to disconnection notice and that we needed to purchase a prepaid card to make the payment.

- Vienna, VA, USA

Someone from Dominion Energy called my business saying we were past due and if we didn't call back with payment within 45 minutes
