Employment: Fake Check Reports & Reviews (117)

- Queen Creek, AZ, USA

I've been applying to jobs on different platforms and I received a text from an employer interested by my resume. The interview was all in text. And they sent a check for me to deposit to purchase my equipment with. Once it's deposited IT department will let me know where to purchase my specific equipment from.

Once I receive the check I called the bank it came from to verify. The bank said I could negotiate it. I called the company the check came from and they confirmed that the check wasn't for me. It must have been stolen and reprinted with my name on it. The company is aware of the scam.

I was notified that I was able to get an interview with this "company", so we did the interview, but I never talked to anyone. All communication was by email only. I did research on the company to make sure it was real, but there was no job posting on the job that I supposedly got. They even sent me a job offer, made me do assessments to make it seem like it was real. It was until I got an email that the company sent me a check, so that I can purchase office supplies. I had to print the check and deposit it to my personal checking account, fortunately I did not print the check, be from then I knew it was a scam. No company sends you a check through an email just so you can purchase office supplies. Please be careful this scam goes so far tome it seem real.

They posted an add on an app called 24 task job and the after I applied had me download telegram for the so called interview then after claiming they were going to send me an apple laptop said I was going to get software and that the vendor would help get it which actually meant get my bank account closed by trying to deposit a fake check

I was emailed and told my information was found on linkedin and was offered an interview for a job. It was a full remote job where they would supply the equipment used. I was asked to take some assessment with an essay answer in a specific format. I was then sent a check over email and given instructions on printing it and mobile depositing it. The check was for $4,199 to set up my office as well as promised funds for my assessment. The check turned out to be counterfeit and froze my account.

Someone from "BMD Group" reached out through text message for a remote data entry position. They "interviewed" me over Google chat, then sent me a check through overnight FedEx for "office supplies". I didn't bring it to the bank, because it's most definitely a scam.

They'll say to cash it, buy a bunch of stuff, then send the remainder back to them. Check will bounce after a few days and they'll disappear leaving you on the hook.
