Because I am applying for jobs, I submitted my resume. After I followed up via email, I received this email: Hi _______, Thanks for submitting your resume. Due to a business trip, I'll be out of the office for a few days. My colleague, Cameron Gray, will contact you tomorrow to discuss the opportunity in detail and answer your questions.
Best regards,
James Harrison

I then received an email from the "colleague." Hello _______, I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to inform you that I tried multiple times to upload your resume to our Applicant Tracking System, but unfortunately, it is not loading in our system. It looks like your resume is not ATS-friendly. I recommend that you get a free resume review from https://www.eliteresumeco.com/freereview and address the issues. We respect the confidentiality and privacy of both parties, so rest assured that we will never share your personal details or even your name with the employer before your approval. Our Applicant Tracking System is used to share your resume with the employer confidentially. The system hides your name and personal details when presenting your resume to the employer. I understand that you are eager to learn more about the opportunity. I will provide you with all the necessary information after our call with the employer. The company is reputable and offers great benefits, and the salary is in line with your expectations. There is no need for you to relocate as the position is based in your desired location. At this time, I am not authorized to share any details of the employer with you due to confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements. However, we have a meeting scheduled with the client on Tuesday next week and I would love to discuss the opportunity with you after that.
I'll be available for a Zoom conference on Wednesday next week if that works for you? In the meantime, please try to fix your resume issues, so our timing is not affected.
Best regards,
Cameron Gray

I realized this was most like a scam and found information online about resume scams. I did not engage further. Days later I received this follow up email out of the blue: Hello _______, I am writing to update you on the latest developments regarding the opportunity we recently discussed. Unfortunately, we just got off the phone meeting with the client, and I have to convey some disappointing news. Due to a conflict of interest, the deal fell apart unexpectedly. We were under the impression that the deal was already completed and we were expecting to get our retainer agreement signed today. I am sorry to inform you of this, as I know how much you were looking forward to this opportunity. I want you to know that this is a significant loss for us as well, and we are disappointed that we were not able to proceed as planned. However, please understand, this has nothing to do with your candidacy. This is just how things work sometimes, and it is out of our control. I want to express my sincere gratitude for your time, effort, and interest in this position. Our team was impressed by your skills and accomplishments, and we think you could be a great fit for other future openings. If we find a good match, we will reach out to you. Once again, I am sorry that things did not work out as planned. We wish you all the best in your job search and future professional endeavors.
Best regards,
Cameron Gray
