Employment Reports & Reviews (741)

A job listing I found on Indeed.com last night resulted in me getting a message this afternoon asking me to email the following address for more information on the position: [email protected]. I was immediately suspicious due to the generic Gmail domain and blatantly misspelled company name, so I reached out to Gregory & Appel Insurance’s Facebook page. They confirmed that this email address is not used by their company. Additionally, this company is actually based out of Indianapolis, IN, despite the Indeed.com job listing stating Monterey Park, CA. I have placed all screenshots in a Word document for your convenience and have reported the job listing on Indeed.

This is the email I received (far too suspicious and "good to be true" they also texted me:

Senior Recruiter at Soft Inspiration Construction

Upon following the email’s domain to Hill Place Realty’s website, I knew something was off. There are typos throughout the website, and it looks beyond fake. I was also thrown off by the company name on the Indeed job listing being completely different from the email address’s domain. As I am typing this, the job listing has already been taken down. I just applied about an hour or two ago. Here are screenshots of the follow-up message I received on Indeed after I submitted my application, as well as screenshots of the Hill Place Realty site. The business location shown on the website is Tampa, Florida, but the job listing’s location is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I’ve put all screenshots in a Word document for your convenience.

I signed up for the work at home business and paid my $39.50 through paypal. I was then sent text messages about contacting them to have a telephone interview to be chosen for a marketing program. They said they only pick a few people to work with. He put me on hold to see if I would be selected and sure enough, I was. He asks about a time when myself and husband could take a call to discuss this job. I told him a time and then he put me on hold. He then got back on and said he would have to call me back. I have not heard from him/them. I want my money back. Below is an answer I got regarding the email I sent asking for my money back.

Fake Employment offer. Online interview process with job offer rewarded at the conclusion. Request to send check to purchase company equipment. BEWAREEEEE

I applied for a job on LinkedIn, to a company called American Life Income. The job is remote work for selling life insurance. I had an interview with a Caliegha Scoville and I was hired a couple days later. I was told I would have to pay for the online courses and attend a couple meetings including a webinar. I was also told I would need a windows 10 or better laptop and not my Chromebook in order to do the job. So I went out and bought a laptop. Then I saw the email where I had to pay for the classes. I paid for the classes. They were $99. I attended my first webinar online. The webinar looked like a normal webinar. In the bottom right it said it was live and there were other new hires participating as well. I did the first chapter of the class. Then I received a “Welcome to the team” email. In the email it said I would need to participate in another webinar with new hires. So I signed up for it. After a few minutes of being in the webinar I realized it was the same webinar as the first one and it was not live and the people in the chat were not real people. It was explained to me that it would be a live webinar for new hires. That webinar was completely fake and the people chatting were fake. It was all prerecorded and it was explained that it was live. That’s when I realized it was a scam. Then thinking about it more having to pay for the online courses up front should have indicated a scam. I am unemployed and I have been applying to so many jobs I am unable to remember all the places I’ve applied. I have always wanted to get into life insurance and thought this was a great opportunity but ended up being a scam. They know my full name, home address, birthday, and the last four digits of my social. I just hope nothing happens. I reached out to the site adbanker.com about getting my money back. Another lady I was speaking to, Bryanna Wagner, she told me I would have to go through that website to get my money back. I reached out to the website. I was sent an email from them saying I would be refunded in 7-10 business days. They didn’t ask for any information regarding my account or anything so I don’t know if I ever will get my money back. I looked into life insurance companies local to where I live and they all said the same thing that they pay for all the courses just not the state exam. So I know for sure I was scammed.

I have someone reaching out to me about working for ump attire customer service. Her name is Wendi Norbut. I just wanted to make sure this wasn’t a scam recruiter? I was emailed for an interview which was done via Teams. I was hired and began doing a series of administrative duties. I did research this person and the company, all findings seemed valid. After a few days, they sent me a check stating that they were in another country and I needed to get supplies in US. They walked me through purchasing this equipment after Bank of America released the funds into my account. Zelle transations were to a Jennifer Neill for computer and printer, plus a wire transfer to a Silvergate Bank for software. They even sent me an invoice from Flexiant, which also googled as legitimate (so it seems). Later that day, Bank of America took back their funds and stated they "completed the transfer(s) according to the instructions you provided us, and therefore no error occurred. Based on this, your account won't be credited." I am now in debt for the $3000 involved. Steven Cozzetto still maintains the legitimacy of this company. He even sent me emails asking me to print checks and mail which I did not do. I have all of this documented, even the Teams conversations.

I was contacted by someone via text stating they received my information about a remote position on careerbuilder.com. I was then asked to download Microsoft teams where we communicated about the job, salary, benefits, job description etc. I was then asked several interview questions and to talk about myself. I was told they would send me a check to by equipment in order to do my job as a Data Entry Processor. I asked several times to speak with someone over the phone, however I got no response. Two days later I received a check in the mail for $4,820.00 from PNC Bank with an invoice from *** Electronics. I again reached out to the company for more information, but no response. I then called *** electronics where I spoke with someone who informed me, they had not sent out a check and it was possibly a scam.

They sent a envelope with a letter to feedback agent telling me about the first assignment at Walmart or second choice stores. A thee step process the letter said there was a check for 2,940 cash at my bank before going to Walmart it was fine if the bank wanted you to deposit it you are required to deduct 540 as your salary then buy 6 gift cards of 400 each from 3 different cashiers 2 cards from each one never telling the casher why you are buying them if asked just tell them personal use. After buying the cards Iwas to take close and full photos but first scratching off the silver panel at the back of the cards also take a photo of the receipt then send the pictures via email to [email protected]. Keeping the cards to be used in my second assignment. I called FNBT bank in Ft Walton Beach Florida they told me about the scam and that their check are not blue. I was also told to text them on the location of the Walmart store I was going to so they could notify their representatives number was 208-514-1095

I applied for a job with Ump Attire on the Career Builder website and also attached my resume. I was contacted by email and offered a job by Wendi Norbut. The emails attachments were "Job description", a four page "Job Application", and "Job Interview Questions" which was 35 questions. I went to the official Ump Attire website and on their "Contact Us" page. I asked, if the job offer was legitimate and gave more of the information given to me. Ump Attire contacted me immediately by email, stating that there is no Wendi Norbut at their company and the job offer was not legitimate.

The scammer conducted an interview through the Wired messenger app. Tried to get me to deposit a check to buy software through their vendors

They claim I can work at home inspecting and reshipping a few packages for 600$ wk, this doesn’t makes sense to me , hard to information about this company ,don’t want to get in trouble with law,I’m suspicious about this

There using a Facebook platform directly to a icq platform from there you sign paperwork then they ask for Bank info and then tell you they will email a check for mobile banking deposit.

I received an offer to be a transcriptionist. The pay was $40/hour and the hiring process was immediate. I went through a lengthy Skype interview process with "Scott Musser" and the next day they sent me an employment letter, W-4 and a confidentiality agreement. I became very suspicious and asked to speak with someone directly. They told me to "stand by" and never connected me with a live person. It's been a frustrating job search process and there are more scammers out there than legitimate employers.

Good day, my name is Jessica from Apex Group .Limited I am contacting you in regards to your resume which has been approved for the Data Entry Position. You are required to contact

the HR on Signal. Download the app from your Google play/App Store (https://signal.org/install/) Add the HR manager using his Phone Number ( Darrell Myers)  (724) 264-5542) and send a message to her for the interview process. Your interview code is XBGD-77-202-7

This is the initial text that I received yesterday. And they are trying to offer me a job and said that they are going to send a check in my name to purchase equipment for the job. And I had to make sure I use the vendor that they suggested. I needed to purchase a L-shaped Desk, a Black Mesh office chair, a shredder, Apple MACBOOK 12 and a couple other things. They said that once the check was sent off they will provide a tracking number. Then i received another text from another company asking me to download the same app but a different number. I have not commented to anything nor have I signed anything. I politely declined their offer and they are still saying but we sent you a check that’s suppose to come to you tomorrow for training. And they sent a email that I’m suppose to sign and send back. I have not done that. Something didn’t set right with me.
