Employment Solicitation Scam Reports & Reviews (363)

I am searching for a mid- to upper-management job in the Adult Learning field (akin to a Training Manager or Learning & Development Manager) and put my resume on various job search boards. The other day, I received an email from "Kate Hoback," a person claiming to be an Executive sourcer with an established recruitment agency, requesting a copy of my resume (for a Chief Learning Officer role with a small "anonymous" startup). I checked the website associated with her email domain, and it looked legitimate, so I responded with a .pdf version of my already public resume. No red flags for me yet, as I have worked with several organizations that had similar non-disclosure agreements and who also had open senior executive and c-suite positions available. She replied to my email, saying that I needed to update the file to an "ATS-Compliant" format, in order to best be positively screened by the company's AI. She suggested I go to https://cmsresumespro.com to convert my document. I looked up "ATS-compliant resume" and saw that, indeed, it is one of many desirable resume formats sought by some employers. The website, however, charges for their services. I found several other websites that offer format conversion for free, so chose one of their templates, converted my resume and sent it to her as a Google doc, a MS Word doc and a .pdf doc. To this, she replied that it still did not work and pushed me again to the resume conversion website, saying that I needed to urgently reply before the opportunity evaporated. Finally the bells and whistles started going off for me, so I researched a little more and found the scam. The website associated with her email domain is a cloned page and has no links deeper than one or two clicks. Her name is listed on several alert pages as being a fictitious alias for phishing and identity theft (if you go to the resume building site and enter in any credit card info, you're assuredly sunk). Needless to say, I "withdrew my candidacy" for the CLO spot and am now putting my experience out into the universe as a warning to others! - Claudia

I was contacted by email by [email protected]. She gave me an interview screening document with 15 questions and asked me to complete it urgently. Then after I sent it back in 2 days she and said that I made need to do an additional online interview or I made get the job without an interview. In 2 days she emailed to say I got the job and asked for my name, email, home address and phone number to write the offer letter. I then got the offer letter and job description. She told me that Alex Proano would contact me. His email address is [email protected]. He told me would help me to set up my workspace. He asked for my financial institution. Next day he sent me a check of $4,012.59 via email and asked me to upload and send him a screen shot. When I told him I couldn’t do it he never responded. The company is located in MD and is listed as a legimate registered company on the state’s business registration website. The company had a job description for management consultant on LinkedIn but it has since been removed.

I was contacted by a person saying they're a recruiter and overly explaining that the opportunity will require an NDA and I should send my resume. Then I was told my resume was not ATS friendly and I was referred to cmsresumespro.com to convert my resume to ATS friendly format. I looked up a free resource, converted the resume and sent it. The next day, I was told it didn't work and I should really use the referred website so my resume can be referred to their client. This is a resume scam where they make you pay $17 for an editable resume. I responded that I was not interested in a recruiter or company that cannot read my simple word doc resume or a PDF and this sounds like a scam so do not contact me again. Came here to report this.

I was contacted by [email protected]. Their website is a clone of the advancedrecruitinginc.com website with names switched out. Definite scam.

A recruiter sent me an interview and asked me to download an app (Ring Central) and had me complete an interview on the app, which seemed slightly bizarre for an interview from the beginning, such as stating what the meaning of certain words related to business such as "privacy" and "code of conduct" mean for a company, and also stating what tasks someone of the position I applied for (administrative assistant) would be completing. I was pressured to complete tasks within rigid time limits. I received a job offer, and subsequently required to complete another assessment despite already having completed a job which asked me to describe duties of the position. At this point I felt that I was being tasked to write a job description for a fake position. I was advised that I would be compensated for creating a home office. At this point I felt I was the target of a scam, searched the internet for similar experiences, and found that this is a common scam. At no time was I provided a direct phone number to the entity that contacted me.

I was approached by text by a person named Laura regarding open positions for “Full Circle Solutions”. I was then corralled into a group interview, hosted by a Scottish man named “Ryan”, where the microphone function was turned off and we had to turn on our video. We were given vague descriptions about immersive events and then we were asked to fill out questionnaires in a short period of time. We were told only those who filled the questionnaire would go on to the “next round” and shortly after the the phone call was ended. I did not give them any further information but I did have my time wasted and I’m afraid others may become victims to phishing scams. Lastly I cannot locate a legitimate website for Full-Circle-Soultions inc.

Below is the questionnaire: **************************************

They contacted me about a job application through indeed to be a data entry specialist. Diane Norman texted me from 6308399670, asked me to download the signal app, and then I was talking to Stacy Tirado on Signal. I was given some basic info about the company and then told the whole interview would be through Signal. I was sent series of questions and at the end decided to google Stacy Tirado and found nothing about her. Then I googled 4244292709 and saw somebody else’s experience with this number which was very similar to mine. The other person said a check was sent to them to buy supplies for the new job but then it bounced and they were asked to pay out of pocket.
