Contacted by personal friend on social media message telling me to apply for a govt grant for needy families that she received. She gave name and phone number of an attorney that i was to text and he would help me apply for a grant. I was leary but trusted my friend never even thinking shed been hacked. They want you to do everything via text immediately which is what made me finally realize it was a scam.

I received a follow request on IG from an old Facebook friend so i didnt think twice about accepting the request. The first red flag was how formal the greeting was. I joked and the response was dry and the subject was changed. Then i was sent a letter about Federal grants. Im old enough to know the government reaches out via mail. There was no header no number no address no contact info and the watermark even seemed fraudulent. So i asked was i being scammed and the person said no its real and they got 25000 when they signed up. So i asked why are you still working if you got the much money. They didnt respond so i went and found my friend on facebook who let me know he does not have am IG. I went back to look at the profile and saw all the posts had only appeared 2 hours prior. Luckily i knew better than to proceed.

You have to text all your information to them then they will tell you if you qualify. Then they send a list of how much you want to get them and how much u want to get back. You give them the date you want to send the delivery fee, but you have to send it western union. After that they tell you some crappie about the delivery truck broke down ,or it been seized by federal Manger and you have to pay an additional 1,500 to get the money. If you donto pay it will go to someone else..
