[email protected] Reports & Reviews (1)

- Los Angeles, CA, USA • Jun 08, 2024

On June 7, 2024, 10am I received a scam call from FaceTime audio by the email [email protected]. A man spoke Chinese, asking my last name and then if I was connected to the number 9174956667. The man claimed he was from the FCC, name Jason Chang and worker ID 8199. He said my number was connected to the 917 number and was being used to scam people in New York. He told me to file a police report with Xiamen police station in China since that’s where the false number was registered. He transferred me to the “Xiamen police station” and my mother joined me at this point, concerned. The “officer” there convinced my mother and I to give my passport information and my mother’s driver’s license to him through Skype. We were on zoom call and he recorded us as part of the scam “report”. He was wearing a police officer’s attire and spoke to his “colleagues”. We also signed low quality “confidentiality” agreements as apparently the “scam” being reported was a huge deal. They also asked us to delete all documents we signed or sent, as well as other messages. They keep in contact with me and my mother through Skype, asking for “safety” check ins every couple of hours. I have blocked the email and stopped sending check ins. I plan to block the Skype account after obtaining the confidentiality documents we signed.
